The platform has suddenly suspended dozens of high-profile accounts, cutting people off from the communities that keep them safe.

That seems to be the case. Ditch IG and let them come to Fedi instead. There’s room for sex positive people, positively.

      EDIT

Yet this is also another casualty of shittification, so what would we expect? Meta is all over the place with their moderation. I still have a FB account and occasionally I’ll receive warnings for posts I made 5-10 years ago. No link to the post, no arguments, no real recourse. While I kind of don’t care, a part of me does. I wonder what innocuous thing someone at FB didn’t like on my friends only visible account (which probably really isn’t that way because FB sucks).

Sex education or people and communities that aren’t ashamed of their sexuality

You’re right about advertising, but they also are a legal target. Any platform that has sex related content on it will eventually feel pressure from their country’s government. It just takes one incident and

I reckon platforms see them as a burden due to the volume of regulation that they inevitably become saddled with, or face penalties. Hence why tumblr rolled the dice on removing it all, Reddit is restricting ease of access, and Pornhub purged most of its content.

I’m interested to see how the Fediverse will handle it when it eventually comes this way.

I don’t really see any sex positive accounts on instagram, all I see is a flood of spam accounts trying to promote their OF, and I’m happy to see those go. It doesn’t matter what the topic is, they’re just spam accounts and nothing else. If anything, I would expect, and hope, it’s instagram cracking down on that and a few legit accounts got caught in the crossfire.

Just like the discourse to sanitise pride so it’s family friendly, all this is about is trying to make their platforms “family friendly” to attract advertisers and that’s it.
