For years, League of Legends was the most popular game on the Lutris website. For years, Valorant has been known to not run on Linux due to its abusive anticheat.
Very soon, League of Legends will adopt the Valorant anticheat and will no longer be playable on Linux and there’s not much we can do about it…
@lutris@fosstodon.org Anyone see the CES MSI LoL cheating monitor? Are there any cheats that’s can just be run on another undetectable computer?
Anti-cheat is a temporary solution which loses in the end. This could be motivation for Linux users to create their own MOBAs. Ideally free software, and with an alternative answer to user’s cheating.
@lutris@fosstodon.org damn. Fuck that. About how many people were playing it from Linux by your estimation?
@lutris@fosstodon.org I’d fav this post, but it’s just sad :-(
@lutris@fosstodon.org so its time to say goodbye to League.
@lutris@fosstodon.org It’s positive that people realize how anticheat and DRM keep poisoning the well and should be eradicated, or at least opt-in only

Windows: Can play League of Legends
Linux: Cannot play League of Legendsconclusion: Linux wins
@lutris@fosstodon.org the only improbable way to solve this is with this project: https://github.com/darlinghq/darling/issues/1467
