  • I think it’s fine, as in I don’t understand the doom and gloom of your post.

Popular just means lowest common denominator. It’s just a standard joke. It sets up expectations of “just another bumper sticker” and then it surprises you with it doing the absurd thing it promised that you didn’t think was going to happen. Then it also references ‘Men In Black’, which is also going to make other people enjoy it for the reference.

Comedy used to be slap stick and minstrel shows. A horror movie was a train going forward. This too shall pass.

  • Lancer is great. It is complicated, not as complicated as battletech though. Which to me is great for getting new players in.

The best way I’ve found to teach people in that system is to create a new character in their character sheet/compendium website, comp/con. And then have a GM to run the game and help with concepts. License Level 0 (starting level) is very restrained. The next level (LL1) opens up interesting opportunities. And then LL 2 is where your options become a bit opportunity heavy.

The official discord is active and there are several other side discords that are active. I’m currently both playing and GMing. There is a reprint of their physical book coming out next year.

As for the lore, there are 4 manufacturers. The post office, anime, luxury cars, and cthulhu mechs.

With the online tools it’s free for players, GM pays for background information and npc stats. There are foundry and roll 20 that can run this for online play.

Combat is fundamentally an easy concept. D20 to see if you hit and D6’s for damage. Although if you have 5 players you can easily spend a session on just one combat, which from what you said is a downside.

  • While cars are real, the price of the dollar is what we believe it should be. Willpower alone can change what the dollar is worth. I cannot eat the dollar, the dollar has no function other than a representation of worth. And worth is also something that is subjective.

Secular evidence based science is closest to reality only if you accept secular as not attached to religion and not the Soviet “religion is active brain rot”.

A square will exist without us, your gods will not.

If you assume religion is true and work backwards you will get non replicatable answers.

  • I can taste all of the artificial sweeteners. My spouse uses them constantly and they taste sideways to me. My partner doesn’t taste much of a difference so If we ever get drinks mixed up I’m the poison tester.

The only way to get them to taste fine enough is by using a mixture of a few different ones. I’m sure my experience is similar to people who have the cilantro soap thing.
