Our society isnt exactly the same as America’s but it does seem to mirror it a little more every year. For example we are on the brink of losing our public healthcare and some provinces are attacking trans rights. Canada has also been exporting arms to Israel during the genocide.

The way his supporters talk is like this, if it is something they like, they claim Trump singlehandedly did that thing. If it is something they don’t like, they claim the fucking government is holdng Trump back from his real goals.

Canada is just america but 5-10 years behind on the crazy policies. It really isn’t any better and cost of living is often higher than in america.

First it was ontario is open for business, under pierre all of Canada will be “open for business”. They would sell every ounce of Canadian fresh water to just to watch a dozen people get rich.

I’m Canadian and have a friend in Canada who is unemployed, mentally ill to the point of collecting disability and lives with his mother who is mentall ill and physically disabled. They both rely on extensive government support programs like disability payments, mental health care access, pharmaceutical benefits, and our healthcare system.

This friend of mine wants to vote for our right wing conservative party who will strip most if not all of these supports away from him and his family. I just don’t understand how someone can vote against themselves like this, he’s gobbled up the propaganda. My heart goes out to all who will suffer under the new American government.

As a Canadian who has watched our politics slowly try to mimic America’s, I’m terrfieid. As it is our conservative provincial premier is ripping out bike lanes on city streets that have apartments being built right now that offers significantly more bike parking than car parking. Its backwards progress, a signifcant amount of the lanes were just built and now we gotta spend more money ripping them out because some fat conservative feels offended he is too unfit to cycle.

Under trump i doubt much “freedom inhibiting” transit will be built. And bike lanes are ablist so they are gone. Sidewalks will be gone too as only “poor people” walk so why waste taxes on them. Hell, he might even rip out a railway to build a highway, cause that’s more american.

I think there is a disturbing charm that trump brings to some Americans. Almost like a “hes a no nonsense” or a “common sense” kind of guy but i think thats mostly because he can blow out tons of lies and misinformation with lots of confidence and some old fashioned American charisma. Hes happy to let people’s hate fuel their emotions.

I think people should have some responsibility for the emissions of their investments. If I’m exclusively investing in fossil fuel companies I’d be directly investing in emitting carbon. In the case of the billionaire class, some companies would have never attempted certain projects or even stayed in business without their billionaire supporters. They may have even been able to take losses and coast on investments while they grab their share of the market then shift to being more profitable.

The manipulation some billionaires do with their money is insane. Jeff Bezos managed to shuffle his assets and investments around just right one year that he was “poor enough” income wise to collect a tax benefit for his kid. We absolutely need to include investments when we are judging billionaires, it is often their investments that keep them rich, not some massive pile of cash or gold stashed away somewhere.

The power their money has when invested is far different than yours or mine. They could single handedly ensure certain companies do not fail, get specific contracts, bypass regulations and many other shady things.

Ideally just get proportional representation with something like ranked choice voting and make it possible for 3rd party votes to count for something.

Forget the strength, what is their frost resistance? Sports bra and underwear while a tree is nearly hidden in snow, what is this? Skyrim?

If he had kept his seed phrase for his wallet, he would be able to recover the funds to a new hard drive. This was very common advice if you did a little bit of research before purchasing btc. Yea I’m not too keen on giving authorization to hit pedestrians. If I feel threatened in my car, I am not allowed to run over the person so why should a driverless car gain that right? And if the panic button is going to call the police, how is that any different from the passenger using their phone to contact police? Seems like extra steps of middlemen and confusion when the passenger could just call once they feel the need.

I could defintely see a case for some extra safety features that help keep the doors locked and shut, maybe thicker windows too if needed to prevent robberies/assaults.

Or maybe a marriage only gets the tax break if they prove they are raising a child. Otherwise straight childless marriages still benefit from the tax break while childless gay marriages do not. If more kids are the goal, make kids the deciding factor for the tax break.

I agree with banning smartphones during classes. They are incredibly distracting and I know i didn’t understand the real value of that free education until well after I had graduated.

I also think less dependence on social media for staying in touch and communicating could help reduce loneliness and some of the depression and anxiety some people face. If we are less connected at our fingertips to people, we are more inspired to see and connect with them in person, which in my experience is more fullfilling.
