  • This implies the person knows the person's birthday yeah? Just confirming.

  • Yeah, the problem of modreach is definitely not a solved problem. The other problem, of all discourse being directly controllable from on high by a profit-driven company, however, is solved by lemmy. I believe that was the original issue lemmy was meant to handle. And that problem does seem to be solved. We'll just have to handle the problem of public official reach the way we normally would.

  • They also walked that back a bit after.

  • Hey, misunderstandings happen. I also jumped the gun a bit by posting in PTB first rather than contacting you directly first.

  • much appreciated, that makes more sense.

  • I did see that. She is a pretty active mod it seems.

  • The mod in common across all these servers is @Sunshine@lemmy.ca and her other alternate accounts on various servers.

Sunshine, if you see this, this is a pretty overkill response from you over what is a joke about the lengths people go to to lie to themselves. If you're thinking it was a bad joke still deserving a ban, at least diminish the sentence length down from a month to a few days instead. I will edit the post to communicate the lessened ban length.

  • 'It's OK kids, they're made out of styrofoam. They can't actually feel any pain'

  • You know, based on the capitalizations, this is very goofy, where Progressives are all fighting each other and are concluding that democratic systems are the problem, which is actually fairly funny. I'm alright with that.

  • Why'd you go with Capital 'P' 'Progressive' and lowercase 'd' 'democrat'?

If you are a Progressive, it means you run as a progressive in politics. If your a 'progressive', though, it means you hold progressive ideals, like women's rights, nationalized services for people, open borders, etc.

If you're a 'democrat', it means you are a supporter of democracies, as opposed to authoritarian regimes, feudal states, or vangaurd states. If you're a 'Democrat', though, it means you are apart of the Democratic party.

    Politics is case-sensitive.

  • The word is 'divisive', as in it divides people - causes division.

Are we supposed to avoid talking about misogyny like this? Because this wouldn't be a divisive topic if men didn't try to force women to have pregnancies they aren't ready for.

  • This produces a free market of violence. We can see already from the free market of the goods and services, and the free market of ideas, that free markets tend toward worse outcomes pretty much every time. If anything, a free market of violence would tend towards a world where only assholes survive.

  • No, I think they want us to bomb data centers and gas pipelines.

  • Based IRS. So the torch will need to be carried by open source devs.

  • There were stages and layers of sex testing within Olympics history, and every time they got mis-classifications they weren't expecting.

We figured out by the 50s that a gender binary was not imperically proveable. Too many variables that varied seperate from each other and often conflicted with each other.

  • This has been covered over and over. The bottom line is usually that devs view Linux as too varied a market for native support. There is always at least a claim that Linux bug reports far outpace windows and mac reports per-capita, and it does not sound unrealistic overall as a reality.

Proton also runs games well quite often. I would imagine that proton's presence is in fact even more incentive to not support native Linux systems, since you aren't really losing that userbase so long as the game still runs on proton.

  • This is so true. I remember hearing about the two Israeli officials who were shot and I was stuck thinking: " was this motivated out of antisemitism and he just happened to hit legitimate targets instead of some innocent folks, or was the guy actually acting out of rage and sadness for what he's seen in Gaza?". Nowadays it seems like you can't even tell immediately - like you've gotta wait for more info. It was a relief to find out that everyone who knew the shooter agreed that he was not antisemitic, and chose to platform justice for Gaza when asked about the shooter.

  • They also created the bagel, no? Love me a plain bagel as the buns if a breakfast sandwich. God. Now I'm hungry.

  • That wasn't my personal experience from the comment. I simply recognised it as anti-intellectual virtue signalling and didn't want that to go unchallenged. It just seemed very clear that the intent of your comment was to belittle those picking the comic apart.
