  • It CAN be time based, but there's also a "hot" and an "active" sorting. Both of which are "algorithms".

It's a lot more simple of an algorithm, and doesn't intentionally push specific topics, but if you open https://lemmy.world/ anonymously, you'll see a default "All/Active" feed which is sorted by engagement.

  • Anyone feel like this is viral marketing???

MAGA hates this movie and wants to ban it!!! You better come watch it to prove Trump is a big doo doo head!!!

  • It's business hours Tue-Fri. Sounds like the volunteer isn't for unpaid work, but for volunteering to do this instead of their normal duties for the week.

Tho I'm sure they'll get dinged on their performance review if their regular work output reduces, so I'm guessing they will end up needing to put on unpaid hours to compensate.

  • With how much he loves the letter, I'm shocked he didn't call it the X party.

I hear he loves history too, so maybe the History X party. I guess he should include the America part so people know which side he's on.

The "American History X" party sounds about right for him.

  • At a certain point you're responsible for a person, and not hosting a mass of cells. If the fetus is viable, then abortion is essentially the same as delivery, and you're looking at adoption instead of abortion.

I'm sure there's edge cases that I'm not thinking of, and I'm perfectly willing to admit I'm wrong, but it seems to me that if the fetus is viable, then there's not much difference between a human that's inside the body or outside.

  • Yup, sounds like I need to wait for quite a few patches and some real reviews before I buy Kerbal Space Program 2 Subnautica 2

  • Abortion legal until viability should be the standard everywhere. That being said, the line is still a little blurry, as your local resources may be able to manage an earlier term pregnancy than one in another area.

Curious how the wording defines that date.

  • Get two external hard drives and swap them into a fire safe occasionally.

That way if there's a need to evacuate you can just grab the fire safe and run.

  • Inspections won't help if the problems are inside the walls.

Yes you want independent inspections, but there's only so much they can find, even with the best inspection.

  • Older trees capture carbon better than young trees.

  • It's literally brought up in the video. Watch it before commenting.

  • Watch the video, it's more complicated than that from a legal aspect.

This guy is on your side, but knows the law backwards and forward on the subject.

  • If a pistol needs an external safety, it's a failed design. The law is correct in that specific instance.

I would love to get some real testing and a true answer about what the problem is. Unfortunately, Sig seems like it just keeps getting shielded from having to show what the issues are.

  • Well, guess they're going to be held to the higher legal standards of the UCMJ now.

  • Not just the F-35 that's out of scale. The people are taller than the buildings in the corner. It's like a half assed diorama.

  • I think that has more to do with safety laws and emission standards than anything else. How can you properly crash test a fully modular car?

I'd love it if cars were more repairable, but modular would be a really tough design problem.

Heck, you NEED a screen in the US on any car due to backup cameras being mandatory. If you need a screen, I can see why companies would just use it for the infotainment system.

  • That's how airplanes were at first too. Eventually, once enough of the technology and engineering becomes finalized, everyday people can afford it.

With this technology we can use methane or hydrogen powered rockets, using only renewable resources, launch people from one side of the planet to the other in less than an hour.

Is this a good thing for the environment? It's hard to say right now, it's probably not great. Since the flights will be so short, maybe it'll be better than the current air travel.

  • Twice yearly shot? Yup, sign me up.

As a medical provider, I'll probably be required to get it.
