  • I'm right with you there - freedom of expression is fundamental, I feel, and freedom of autonomy is not only a privilege to us as conscious, self-aware beings, but also a constant. Imagine a couple billion international people being told they can't have nice things or freedom by a thousand extremely conservative people from one country. This whole thing is a joke, but if it's any consolation the people will always fight back. We will always find a way to reject the doctrine of some buffoons. Chances are some people are already compiling a catalogue of every game removed from Steam in order for them to be available. The most low-effort controversial titles may not be much of a loss, but everything following them will be.

  • Clickbait doesn't explain properly - the reason queer games were removed from Itch.io is because (and this is another issue) they were one of many media hosters who labeled anything LGBTQ+ as NSFW. The tag itself gets improperly used but anyway. They were still banning under 18s from learning and experiencing diverse life. Romance ≠ sexuality ≠ identity but some people don't understand that.

  • There are many reasons why mentally mature people also find an interest in content designed for immature minds. The first of which that I can list, in regards to bronies and pegasisters being fans of My Little Pony, especially Generation 4, is:

    1. That kids shows are chock full of moral lessons that everyone can benefit from.
    2. MLP may have more compelling drama plots per episode compared to 'adult' soap operas.
    3. The desire for a fantastical escape from a world that's becoming increasingly negative.
    4. Psychologically I suspect the characters or settings were very relatable, perhaps in terms of innate desire to:
    • Fit in (Twilight)
    • Be happier and less depressed (Pinkie)
    • Be useful to society/have a loving family (Applejack)
    • Be peaceful/coexist with animals (Fluttershy)
    • Be popular/cool/more confident (Rainbow)
    • Have self-pride/be helpful to friends (Rarity)
    1. The fantastical idea that conflicts can be solved with love, not war.
    2. Many animations are often designed with references or jokes that only adults would know, and keep them entertained. For example, how many children would recognise Dashie's morning wing-boner as anything of note, or that one episode was a parody of Murder on the Orient Express?

    Either way, something relatively unique and wonderful happened with MLP:FiM.

  • Makes sense, as all services I've encountered that mention age in regards to data collecting imply that it's illegal to harvest those under 13. Mobile games and other services would not harvest data if you state your age as well below 13, but the increasingly vast majority just say "we will be harvesting you; by clicking this button or making an account you confirm that you are over 13 years of age.." Because, you know, real child protection laws are in effect.

    There are no images of this on the site. Aside from sex toys or armwear I have no clue what this could be. Searching it hasn't clarified anything. Does anyone here know what an O-sleeve is? Is it something O shaped?

    Edit: the only thing I can find related to sleeves and discs are these, but this'd be weird to include..

  • At the cost of a less stable value, you can convert your currency to BTC, store it on a physical wallet like those made by Ledger and self-host BTCPay Server to make receiving money easier (alt cryptocurrency available via integrations). As for spending, that depends entirely on the recipient cooperating and accepting BTC. There are also 'payment gateways' that should help, including self-hosting a verifiable debit card. I'm still looking into it.

  • Pretty sure Pink Panther is an exclusively white comedy. I'm sure Murphy can create a great version centred around his style, but I've always preferred efforts to make new content rather than reusing and drastically adjusting old content. He and co. should write a new script instead. You don't mold the foot to fit the shoe, and when movie producers do, it's a mutilated and often ugly result.

  • Honesty is the best policy, after all. Hopefully this list would not be extended later to include personal identification, and stick to purely statistic-based summaries of offenders. The only problem I see is the potential danger of overreach, as some of those marked as sex offenders are innocent and don't deserve to be hunted and killed by vigilantes that this may lead to. If the primary demographics are not white, this could lead to even more extreme violence and hatred against innocents. As much as I approve of vigilante justice, a trustworthy form of evidence collection and subsequent conviction or absolution is necessary. Individual opinion and misguided ideals bypass true justice.
