The immediate thought that came to mind waa a semi-procedural space trading/combat game that crafted galaxies inspired by netword structures and connected devices, with the router serving as the ‘stargate’ and resources not actually pulling anything from the systems involved. Smart devices could show up as ships or satellites, or planets depending on the types of devices involved.

I definitely feel you on this one. I pretty mucj took my vocal chords and fucked off when BaconReader was killed off, but even before then my visits got drastically cut back when the ability to kill the app nag was removed from web interface in monile browsers. That’s what put me onto BaconReader in the first place.
