I personally just got a gaming headset for the first time. Before i had a cheap stand mic which due to space i had to place almost behind my screen. It picked up every little sound in the room. Keyboard typing sounds and mouse clicking were hearable a lot. Now with a mic actually on my headphones that issue doesnt exist anymore and people already mentioned that i sound way better. As for mics on an arm, do they need a lot of space?

Mmh ok. But people without Index and for example Quest or Pico are pretty screwed i guess since you can’t install Virtual Desktop or the oculus thing. ALVR exists but i always had weird issues with it regarding stability and image quality.

Ah so the mastodon situation. With mastodon not having features essentially which basically a lot of other alternatives have or even having their own exclusives features.

Can you clarify? As of my knowledge kbin doesn’t have an app yet and lemmy apps don’t support kbin.

Oh i expected the hardware that basically is made for the software to actually work with SteamVR always. Guess I’m wrong. But unfortunately proves my post more true.

I personally still use a patched version of Sync for reddit with my own API key. Interestingly nothing changed over time. I still have nsfw access and don’t pay anything. Wonder what’s up there but as long as that works I’m fine.

I wish that would be the case for VR too. But with VR there is lots of stuff just not being supported unfortunately. If you have any Headset that basically isn’t the Index good luck using Linux. Also there are still Software issues with certain stuff there that won’t properly work or not at all. I once tried Linux but unfortunately ran into several issues which caused me going back to windows 11.

Firefish supports now all apps afaik that are compatible with mastodon. You might just not have access to certain exclusive features of the instance.

Can this be used with an kbin account too?

Note that not all instances do this. Especially not necessarily if they aren’t mastodon. My calckey instance for example has it optional and i have it off there. Akkoma i know also can do it optionally.

Depend on how it’s setup. Some servers are setup to cache images, some don’t. Mine for example doesn’t and streams directly from source instead so i don’t waste storage.

Yeah even for large Media uploads I’ll probably not use my own instances server and instead use something like YouTube or streamable. Since many instances don’t even support displaying large Media at all i noticed. Like i uploaded a multiple hundreds MB video on my instance and on all Mastodon based instances it showed the file not being available.
