  • If you demand the vote be united under a new and different banner

I don't. I recognize that the Democratic party is our best bet to move in a progressive way towards the Left.

than the one which reflects 90% of the same policy stance

Mamdani won the Democratic nomination. He's still a Democratic Socialist of America (DSA). I don't see this any different from the Tea Party within the GOP in the late 2000's. We can have factions within the party, but in those factions we need to find unity.

Establishment Dems are a faction that don't deserve to be party of that unity. They seek to undermine material improvements for the working class while letting the billionaires get away with not paying their fair share.

    then you're splitting the vote.

    100% the opposite

  • Splitting the vote is the exact opposite of uniting the vote

  • We need a unified front to fight the fascists in office, and parading out the establishment Dems that caused this all to happen is not a winning strategy.

We need new blood that will draw in new voters. And we need to decide who that new blood is before the end of the year so they can start primarying in January.

  • I agree. That's why all Democrats need to endorse current Independents so they can gain back their power, like Zohran Mamdani in New York and maybe Graham Platner in Maine.

But I've been seeing disappointing behaviors from the Dems with that lately. Not just in New York and Maine, but also in Minnesota with how the Dems revoked their endorsement of democratic socialist Omar Fateh. Pathetic.

  • What are you talking about?

I can criticize the DNC, RNC, Dems, and GOP.

I can endorse the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) and their DSA National Convention they just held a week or so ago in Chicago.

You see the political spectrum like this:

    Dems >---------------< GOP

I see the political spectrum like this:

    Left >--------< Dems >--------< GOP

The Dems get hate from both sides, so they want to collapse that by disrepresenting the Left and absorbing the Right. It will never work out for them

  • Didn't Ghislane just say there aren't any files in her deposition?!

You can't make this shit up man 😂

  • 2 comments in and we're already blocking.

Soy Right and snowflakes up and down, lmfao

  • Good luck with the project! I hope it becomes everything you want it to be, in time!

  • This is the first Windows update that has significantly altered how my daily driver laptop works (read: for the worse).

It's too inconvenient to use a Windows computer anymore. I'm switching to Linux

  • That update made me buy my first Framework laptop! Fuck Microsoft!!

  • Thanks for sharing! And yeah absolutely

  • About time

  • Good to know

  • Appreciate the tip!

  • Some of the newer FPS EA games have "Anti-Cheat" features that require you to enable certain things on your own device, like Secure Boot and TPM.

I'm sure games play fine on Fedora. I'm just concerned about those bootloader type things that I'll need to enable, or know how to disable at a later time

  • I've heard about grub, thanks for putting it into more context.

I'm still trying to figure out how all of this fits together.

BI0S, UEFI, GRUB, bootloaders, kernels, distros, DEs, it's honestly a mess for someone who's computer knowledge (thankfully) ends at microcontrollers in college.

Any sources you can remember for that dual boot you did years ago, I'd be grateful to look into

  • I appreciate what you did answer!

By boot media vs installation media, I think my intention would be to use a USB with Ventoy/GParted for install. After that point, can't you boot different .ISOs from the BI0S/UEFI menu?

I'd hope I wouldn't need to run Linux on my laptop with my USB always plugged in. Maybe once or a few times at first, but the Surface's singular USB port is a prime commodity. Probably should look into some docks.

I hope my question about like USB specs or whatever didn't throw you for a loop either. I meant like how much space would I need to have W10/W11, Fedora KDE, maybe Kubuntu, maybe Linux Mint, etc. to be able to distrohop easily. As a newb, just looking for literally the easiest way to do things. I can tinker with my system to get started, but I want it to be a daily driver for the long haul. And that's with knowing that for distros like Fedora I'll still need to upgrade occasionally since their releases runs shorter than something like Ubuntu's

  • Yeah I know I should be more careful when I use the word brick around Linux people. What I really mean is that 24H2 fucking slowed my laptop down to a halt, to the point where the update itself took 15 hours to complete. My laptop was working with acceptable performance before that. And after reverting back to 23H2, it's still slow.

I just wanna be done with Windows man

  • You never made that point. Stop moving the goal posts.

Do we have any evidence that Steam will not supported anything Windows 10 related, given that commercial licenses are ending and many people are shifting to enterprise licenses?

And it's not like Steam hasn't already been doing this. People have used enterprise licenses for legit and nefarious purposes for years. I doubt they'd change anything in October. They aren't owned by M$
