  • I usually went Arena first in the OG oblivion, leveled up my character as much as possible (as perfect as possible) and then started doing quests. It was a nice controlled environment to level combat skills in. I was high level but never encountered any major problems at that point. I mean sure.. if i only focused on blade (and maxed it to 100) and suddenly started using bow and arrow (which is at 15 or 20) then i'd have a bad time but thats how Morrowind did it too. Arguably even worse in Morrowind lol, god i hated that you could miss swings (but at the time i guess a lot of RPG's worked that way). But if i went into the world immediately and just started doing quests i was screwed since its almost impossible to level perfectly in an uncontrolled environment.

What i really like about the remaster is that i can just start doing quests immediately without having to worry about ruining my character. I feel I have much more control of how I want to build my character now, in the original i felt i had to play by a playbook for leveling and when i was high lvl enough i could finally start enjoying the game.

  • This is why rock paper shotguns sucks ass and I never take their articles seriously.

Bethesda DID fix the leveling system in the remasters. The problem was not the level scaling, it was the fact you had to train every single major skill perfectly or else you would miss out on points and become underpowered compared to the enemies which have leveled with you. So if you leveled wrongly you would have anywhere between 5? To 10 points ti spend and if you did correctly you had more... the remaster fixes this by always giving you the max amounts of points to spend each level you gain.

I can spend an entire paragraph explaining why but this article Probably does it better

  • Is just treat any US and UK news outlet as the Onion these days.

  • A dealership (or that's how it works here) is obligated to sell x amount of cars (usually same brand or at least same group). They will just be sent the cars whether they sell them or not. So in a worst case scenario the franchise ends up with shitty cars no one wants and has to dump them on the market for shit prices.

The result is often that cost of maintaining a vehicle at a dealership is through the roof because they don't have a healthy margin on new cars (or even lose money on them).

They also have very idiotic requirements at times to even become a dealer. Although supposedly they have loosened requirements and rules since no one wanted to be a dealership anymore here.

  • As far as remasters go I think it's pretty good.

Don't expect a 2025 game in terms of mechanics and level design. For it's time Oblivion was a very good game. This is a polished version of the original with updated graphics and somewhat modernised combat and movement. They ironed out a lot of clunky mechanics and bugs too.

As far as remasters go the GTA ones were absolute dogwater just like warcraft 3 remastered. This one is very good and imo comparable with the command and conquer remasters.

I dont think they could have done much more without making the game completely different.

  • Yeah, even here in Europe most places that sell cars gave up their dealerships.

It's a shitty business model that makes no sense for the owner.

  • They don't want people to use it. They want Google to give them a big bag of money so they can integrate it into chrome.

  • Seeing how things went the past 10 years i think people will have forgotten about musk by August and then the tesla shares and sale will rise to unforseen heights.

I hope I'm wrong but I seriously doubt it.

  • I just bought it so I guess ill find out. It's a great game regardless whether they fixed it or not. I can always go archer or sword.

  • Yeah that's probably it. I remember the scaling being awful if you didn't spend all points perfectly each level. They must have fixed it since i don't seen anyone complaining about it.

I'll check some videos this weekend when there is more known about it. I'm looking forward to playing it again though.

  • So did they fix the magic system? One of my biggest problems with the original was that magic was near pointless. After like 30 levels magic felt like throwing rocks at a tank.

  • I still don't get why people are moving to yet another centralised platform (bluesky is not truly decentralized).

No matter how much someone agrees or disagrees with the lemmy devs, the platform is decentralized and they can't really enshittify it.

  • When a regular person makes something available that shouldnt be behind a paywall to begin with it's stealing. When a billionaire or company uses ai to gather data from paid sources or just straight out plagiarises it's just maximising profits.

  • Is that really an alternative though? I bought a synology because I don't want to spend hours and hours configuring shit, only for it to break after an update. I fiddled around with proxmox, truenas etc. But it's a hassle. I absolutely believe that DIY is the way to go if you have the time for it though.

I hate what synology is doing and seeing where most companies are heading I'm pretty sure the enshittification won't stop at using their own branded HDDs. But I just want a solution that works. As shitty as this move by synology is for me its still cheaper to spend 30 euros more on a drive and have a hassle free solution then screwing around with DIY solutions.

Please prove me wrong though.. I'm trying to rid myself of big tech and have been pretty successful so far (linux, self hosting, no more streaming subscriptions etc.). If anyone knows of a better solutions that had synology drive like function and hyper backup like function with a minimal maintenance OS I'm all for it.

  • Well... they went the enshittification route and they keep on censoring more and more. One of their latest stunts is that they're going to implent an age check by making a video of you.

Yeah sorry but that is very privacy invasive. I'm all for trying to catch predators and shit but I'm not giving away my privacy for it.

As an added bonus they're more and more ads so they can link all that juicy data you send them to a profile.

  • How stupid are these people? Why does anyone think Trump is good for business?

  • The problem with Matrix to me is that it is simply too unstable. I can open it up on any device and half the messages won't load or are corrupted. Media won't show at all. In contrast Lemmy has been super reliable and "just works", so going from reddit to lemmy was no problem at all. And the communities are great too.

I just want working voice chat and group chats.

The entire streaming i don't really care about. There are other apps for that.

But yeah as it is I'm probably better off using discord until the enshittification is so bad no one wants to use it anymore.
