  • This isn’t a hike along branching trails, it’s a rollercoaster and we gotta get strapped in.

I really hope you’re wrong about this, although it’s something I’ve considered a lot as well. I agree with everything you’re saying, but I just can’t shake the idea that what’s happening in Florida is a preview of what’s to come, and in my eyes there’s a severe difference between D and R right now and I genuinely worry for my queer friends especially sometimes. Federal law supercedes any local stuff and the President has been an office which has increasingly used executive action to meet its objectives. Combined with how Congress works… I think we need to try our damnedest to avoid the implications of that, is all. Biden is the only shot we have right now in that regard 🫠

  • I mean I get it, sure. But you didn’t address any of the points I made, instead you said “it’s the Jews man”. Israel has almost nothing to do with the average voter’s opinion on leftist politicians, leftists are already anti-israel. Americans don’t really give a shit about foreign politics/policy in the first place.

You can keep harping on this if you’d like, I’m just trying to tell you that the independent voters you need to sway don’t give a fuck about this.

  • I pay dues to the DSA bub, you don’t need to tell me to go do politics stuff. The fact remains that they don’t have a candidate they’re supporting. They’re the biggest leftist org in America and they can’t put ANYONE on the ballot?

I feel like if nothing changed for you during Trump’s last presidency that’s great for you personally, but that doesn’t reflect the lived experiences of millions of people here… My vote is one of many but it’s the most important thing I can do as an individual, I’m not a billionaire or an elected official. I can advocate in my community and stuff of course. But at the end of the day the people with the votes win the office. That’s how it works.

I don’t really get your point though, you say that everyone is in hysterics over Trump but also that

The same crowd that was in the capitol on January sixth has had time to plan and examine their previous mistakes.

Which one is it? Should I be worried or not? Because if yes, then we need to have a discussion about the real world as it is now, and the choices in front of us now, not ignoring national politics to do whatever “do more for the people around you” means…

  • Sure, but I just need more than this. Like where is the good 3rd party person? West’s campaign is a joke, Stein’s previous failures are contributing to her campaign performance this cycle. RFK is a nutter. Cenk isn’t even a natural born citizen so I have no fucking clue what his angle is and it’s plain he isn’t serious anyways based on his rhetoric.

Who am I supposed to vote for? Anyone can step up, why can’t we field a better candidate than the Dems? It feels like it should be easy. I don’t know if I’m willing to throw this country to MAGA so I can vote for one of these people over Biden, we need to do better.

  • It’s not looking good dude, anyone who has been following his campaign knows it’s in far worse shape than even RFK’s. National polling is hovering at ~10% for all candidates combined outside the D/R parties.

At this stage I would say West’s campaign is a failure due to fundraising and operational issues. Here in Michigan my vote actually matters, I’m not sure where you live but if we don’t get our shit together here it’s likely all of our delegates could go to Trump. I don’t know if I’m willing to bet my state race on Cornell West, regardless of how much I agree with him. Electability is important and I think that’s why leftism has never taken off, West’s supporters don’t wanna do the door knocking and shit. They just want to yell at people.

  • So like, democracy played out and it turns out people thought Biden was the best choice, so he became president. What exactly is your plan for the election this year with that in mind? Who are you voting for? Because unfortunately the will of the people is still with Biden.

I tried my best to get Bernie on the ballot but people didn’t want him, and so now I have to be pragmatic, and vote for Biden again so we don’t descend into christofascism and have no chance whatsoever at fixing the planet. I would appreciate it if you considered doing the same.
