Anyway I did. I deleted my account and haven’t gone back for anything since then. It’s rough too cause now there’s no connection to the local groups here.

I joined a local instance hoping there would be local people posting but I guess that’s not how lemmy works.

It’s interesting that you bring this up because I have been encountering people lately who have a different take on insects - that they actually kind of put insects above humans. Just yesterday someone responded to me saying I get attacked by bugs that, quote “You are not getting attacked. You just live in the same world like them and take up space that once was theirs before”

So like its my fault that I’m getting bug bites. Humans are to blame for existing in the wildlife and that’s why animals and insects try to take people out all the time.

There’s this popular poster on tumblr who goes by bogleech - their stuff gets reposted to reddit last I saw. They also support this idea that bugs are superior and humans need to just stop being afraid of insects and respect them more.

I finally watched Freeway 2: Confessions of Trickbaby. I loved it even though its pretty offensive for also being super progressive for its time. Totally not what I ever expected either.

It’s a big deal to finally watch it because it was one of those VHS covers I would see at the rental store growing up and I was dying to see it but there was no way my mom was going to let me watch a movie that was rated R. So it was always a mystery what the movie was for a long time and I really only knew that it had Natasha Lyonne in it who at the time, I had a crush on.

That does seem to be a huge drawback in Canada. So many things aren’t available there.

Whoa, yeah I never take 10 minutes to look for something to watch. Maybe 2-3 minutes? And that’s only if I have a case of being extra indecisive.

After reading through the comments and talking to some other people, it seems the real issue is that people don’t know what they want to watch. I already know what I like. So that’s some weird advantage I have cause it seems more common that people don’t even know what they really like watching.

I often use to describe myself as very picky because I would always want to watch specific things where as other people around me always wanted to just watch whatever was new or out at the time. So I just always have this mindset of, I know what I want to see next.

Also YouTube Tv isn’t like YouTube with algorithm. It’s more like cable tv. I have tv network channels to choose from and I can set shows to record so its more like when you had cable or satellite back in like 2010.

I know this is true but why do I see so many people on lemmy pushing for self-hosting and even talking about it like its some low rent hobby?

my feed should be all art videos then but its not. They throw in shit that I never look at.

Instagram reels never does this to me btw. I never really stray from watching speed paints/drawing tutorials/artist reels so that’s what I see.

Why is that? That’s the one thing that’s always kinda freaked me out about cooking with a cast iron pan which is why I shied away from it for so long.

My instinct is to just scrub a pan until its clean. Not leave it to be seasoned. Unless what I saw in real life was wrong? my ex cooked with a cast iron pan.
