I meant “next big corpo beaten into submission by regulators”. I don’t think Epic gave up on them yet.

Apple TV doesn’t try to do much other than being a very technically capable passthrough. You get pretty much every streaming service, multiple Plex clients etc. And no ads.
My 1st Gen ATV4K is 7 years old now and was buttery smooth until last tvOS update, now it’s only slightly smoother than most high end TVs. That’s quite a good run.
Just disconnect your TV from the Internet and get an Apple TV.
Google is big enough to be considered a monopoly in mobile phone operating systems. Play Store is technically a separate service / business which enjoys unfair advantage of being installed by default. I think this approach might be good because it’s better for user experience (unlike EU web browser thing for example) and has a good shot at postiviely affecting power balance between app developers and platform owner.
I’m curious how this will play out. Apple should be next obviously.

CERN is so huge they do a lot of non-core research so that they improve their tooling, academic processes etc. This is how we got World Wide Web for example.
I’m confused, what’s the topic?
That’s why there are less and less early adopters overall. Big tech cut the branch they were sitting on years ago and we’ve been in a free fall ever since.
Supposedly it just scratches „that itch” - mindless grind and loot cycle integrated into survivor-like formula. There are more games like it but HoT is also nailing aesthetics. Death Must Die is another game in similar vein but they also went one step further and copied upgrades from Hades too (this one I played myself). Both are enjoyable remixes on proven formulas and there’s nothing wrong with that.
Mine is ultra low voltage and I barely maintain it so this article gave me a bit of a scare. I’ll probably wipe it by the next reinstall anyway since it’s been nearly 10 years of Ubuntu LTS upgrades and it’s a mess (both what I’ve done to it and what Ubuntu has done to itself).
Security updates are usually provided for a long time even if in a trickle.
That’s still 2.5k fully saturated 400mbps connections. As far as I know this kind of approach wouldn’t work since you’d easily block them - you need craploads of bots all around the world for this to not be defeated by a smart firewall.
My partner who’s been a Diablo junkie back in the day couldn’t stop playing this in early access to the point of being on some leaderboards. From what I’ve seen over the shoulder it seems VERY solid and it’s probably one of the better survivor-likes around.
It’s terabits, not gigabits :)
Symmetrical connections are not that common so pulling this much upload from infected machines seems impressive.
It had very inconsistent frame pacing and serious shader compilation stutter even after the latest patch according to what Digital Foundry has shown.
They introduced Shorts because TikTok threatens their monopoly. TikTok raised max length some time ago so they do it too. Now US is going to ban TT and they’re trying to clone some easy to implement stuff in hopes of getting users that won’t move to Instagram. Don’t see that happening because Google doesn’t understand what makes TT so popular. It’s kind of funny that TT recently implemented horizontal videos and it’s as half-assed as Google attempt at vertical ones.
I was extremely surprised that Apple let Christian publish this originally, they have blocked alternative YouTube clients for years. At the time I thought that Apple is doing this to spite Google who didn’t release native app for VisionOS. Christian had a good relationship with Apple and could deliver something high quality so there’s that too. Curious that they changed their mind but it’s safe to assume Apple and Google had to work it out.

This was super interesting, I didn’t ever think about expanding upon classic board games in this way. Thank you for making an effort to put up this post.
Valve was always waiting for the moment when Microsoft would be at their weakest, possibly during some kind of transition. They were too early with Steam Machines as a response to Windows 8 but this might be the time. Xbox is faltering and ARM threatens to end Wintel ecosystem. I wouldn’t be quick to applaud those developments though.
We have Google Linux for phones and it looks like we’ll have Valve Linux for gaming PCs. Valve is not your friend so this platform will be gradually locked down, for convenience at first. Then you’ll either use Valve Linux or you’ll be locked out of your games library - obviously not directly but alternatives will be too fiddly for mainstream. This will allow masses to be herded into Valve operated marketplace which was always the point.
The biggest corpo mistake of last century, computing Wild West for mainstream will die bit by bit unless this process is stopped with regulations. It’s ironic that it’s happening with money made from Windows.
Even if things go well it will be one thing at a time probably. This news doesn’t sound big because Google is so big but for businesses dependent on Google infrastructure this is a major win, no?
My perspective might be skewed since I live in EU and we mostly won right to our data and privacy.
