  • The appeals court made a ruling. They said it won't apply until October 14, knowing that the Trump admin would ask SCOTUS to hear the case.

  • The context line for the article says:

The appeals court stayed its ruling until Oct. 14, giving the Trump administration time to ask the Supreme Court to hear the case

  • Same as always. They'll just appeal and delay and keep repeating that until they get a judge that will toe the line.

  • One of the main reasons I dont self host anything from the fediverse is because I dont want to monitor for abusive material.

Seems like the defed list is mostly known sources of abusive imagery.

  • I don't think it's going to be them doing the dying?

  • All three officials came to the CDC headquarters to clear out their offices and, as they left the building on Thursday afternoon, were followed out by hundreds of workers who cheered them and thanked them for their work at the agency.

    What does this actually mean?

They followed these guys out to the car park and then turned around and went back to their desks?

  • Meanwhile the entire "wellness" industry is applauding Kennedy et al.

Of all the shit these guys are shovelling this vaccine stuff has the greatest potential for harm IMO.

It's going to be a very bitter feeling when the idiocy of these measures is revealed by the body count.

  • It's just another shit show arising from the assumption that the population would not elect or support an administration which is hostile to the rule of law.

Like the assumption is that when a judge says "hey you can't do that, scumbag" the adminstration would spend the next 10 years being embarassed and doing their best to avoid any similar faux pas.

With this administration, it's the opposite - they knew what they were doing was illegal, and that it would be shut down when the judge got around to it, so they have several back up implementations ready to go for when the judge shuts down the first one.

  • Snoop said that his grandson asked him, “Papa Snoop, how did she have a baby with a woman? She a woman!”

This is the part that gets me. Its really not that complicated.

If a kid is old enough to ask this then you can tell them "oh a doctor can make you pregnant with an operation".

  • Yeah this is exactly what I was thinking. I was looking at pictures figuring out how to hold it without touching the keys.

  • Wait what?

So he came back a minute ago and they tried to ship him off to Uganda?

  • Sure ok good to know.

I have a kind of a fleet of thinkpads, almost exclusively t490s, I really like them.

However I also understand that doesn't necessarily mean that everything with the lenovo brand has a similar quality.

  • I've never tried one.

It seems weird having the keyboard facing outwards. I know it gets disabled when folded back, just seems wrong. I'm not saying it is wrong just that it kinda freaks me out a little bit because I'm a bit odd like that.

I'm looking at ideapads though, that might be nice.

  • I suspect you know far more about warfare generally than myself.

I agree that the Trump administration doesn't care for small unsexy details like logistics, however I'm certain that the US army cares a great detail about it, and has the requisite knowledge, infrastructure, and culture to get it right.

The national guard troops in LA example isn't really indicative of what would happen in a civil war. It was a temporary issue.

Your expectation that the Blue States might win a prolonged war based on their attention to the mundane might be sensible if both sides command relatively equal air land and sea hardware. However, it seems much more likely to me that such a conflict would be fairly short lived. If one side had a majority of the armed forces line up behind them then they're the winner before you even get started really.

  • Its probably just anxiety but since the last one I haven't been able to shake the feeling that another is inevitable.

  • I dont really know much about this but I know youre probably right in the context of the world wars.

Was it Spanish flu? IDK, but poor nutrition, hygiene, and close proximity in the trenches was a huge factor.

In a present day war, it would probably be different? Still some "dug in" defences but far more ranged, airborne, and remotely controlled armaments.

  • Do animals know what fascists are?

  • There's a use case for this but who knows how big this niche is, and ultimately that's what will determine success or failure.

  • Yeah pretty much my take.

Trump has 3 relevant characteristics, he has evil intentions, he's incompetent, he's popular.

Vance has evil intentions, he's less incompetent, but he's less popular.
