  • I'm a man. I like being a man. I like the other men in my life. I'm not being sexist, and neither is this comic. You claim I have a negative attitude attached to a gender... I've only criticized rapists. Is hating rapists equivalent to hating men? I've been very clear in my beliefs and why I hold them, and all you've done is some racial what-aboutism. Seriously man, have a think about this one. We're on the same side - the difference being when I see stuff hating on men, I blame the men that give us a bad name, not the women that have chosen to be cautious around men for their own safety. If I ever encountered a woman scared by my presence, I wouldn't get upset and think "wow what a bitch she hates men just for being men". I would become saddened that the world we live in puts women in a position that they fear men.

contributing factors like socioeconomic status or substance issues

It's because of these factors that there is nuance with these kinds of jokes.

  • Please go discuss this comic with a woman.

  • Omg we’re so close! Yes they defend themselves because those statistics are being used as weapons in furthering systemic racism. Us making fun of men (once again, not happening in this comic) does nothing but damage the patriarchy, which we agree is good right?

To be clear, when we shit on bad men - I do want there to be nuance that we are specifically talking about bad men. This comic doesn’t need that because he’s either a rapist or he’s not - but it doesn’t matter because he’s still a stranger and that MAY be dangerous.

  • That’s not the punchline. The audience doesn’t even know if the man on the laptop is a rapist, could be a stand up dude. The punchline is that you can’t market sex to women the same way you market sex to men. Why? Well maybe you should ask a woman.

  • YES! We’re getting to the same page. The difference is the patriarchy defends itself. I’ve never seen a black person fight to defend systemic racism.

  • Oof. I really shouldn’t have to explain the systemic difference between the two.

Also once again, this comic is making the joke that a strange man could be a rapist, and that women are not interested in strange men the same way men may be interested strange women - not that all single men are rapists.

You’re purposefully conflating this comic to the level of hating men, and then to the level of using crime statistics to perpetuate systemic racism. Brother you’ve lost the plot.

  • Okay not sexist at all then. Because there’s nothing racist about crime statistics about black people.

What people might do or say in regards to those statistics is typically where the racism comes in.

  • Now I’m calling you a troll and I’ll save us both some time with a block. See you in another life!

  • I’m trying to point out that if you aren’t a rapist, this comic shouldn’t offend you. It doesn’t criticize men - if it said single men are rapists, then I would be upset too and I’m not single. But it doesn’t. Instead it recognizes that women have good reasons to be scared of men, especially strangers, and so long as you’re not one of those reasons, this has nothing to do with you.

  • Jeez dude you just don’t get it. There isn’t anything wrong with defending men but this comic doesn’t hate men. You thinking it does is part of the problem. This comic isn’t saying that all single men are rapists - hell we don’t even know if the single man they are showing is a rapist. What we, and women, do know is that men commit almost all SA. It’s a fact. The comic is playing into the fact that they market sex at men by saying “look strange women” and men fuck with it. Saying “look strange men” to women doesn’t typically illicit the same response.

The fact that you are so upset kinda makes me think you might be represented by this comic.

  • Ah there you are - this was never about defending men, this was about hating women. Also I’m a man lol

  • Yes you are being an asshole thanks for noticing. Also wtf are you on about - no where does it say “ALL SINGLE MEN ARE RAPIST.”

You saw yourself in this comic and got defensive - that “whores and sluts” line came naturally to you.

  • I must’ve missed that part. Where does it say that only single men commit rape? Oh right it doesn’t. But you got defensive…. Which is suspect to say the least.

  • Women would literally rather be stuck with a bear rather than a man they do not know. So, is it sexism? Or is there a fundamental problem (read patriarchy) that makes women scared of men.

Do you think it’s sexist to report that men commit 90% of all rape and sexual assault?

  • Sure, but that logic applies to every single closed sourced software/system ever.

  • Seems this is a non-issue.

  • Incredible. Thank you.

  • Completely agree, and entitled gamers are some of the worst. Though I don’t think that should completely excuse our dev here from handling it poorly. They made their product worse and then was surprised when things got worse. Ultimately it’s their prerogative for which systems they choose to develop. Fortunately there are alternatives.

  • make free open source software

    people repackage for their distros

get mad when you receive support requests for outdated packages

change license to prevent further repackages

Linux users continue using old version to avoid restrictive license change

Continue to receive support requests for old packages before license change

    crash out

    Am I doing this right?
