This would be a dream for me too

Sorry for the extremely late reply. But anyways, I use Auto Tab Discard - Frees up ram with unused tabs
Sideberry - a vertical option to organize and search tabs with a overwhelming plethora of options
Tab Session Manager - To make sure I don’t lose my tabs if my browser crashes
Tab Stash - to hide away bundles of tabs so I can sort through them later
Window Titler - To name my different windows I have open in order to keep things organized on my windows toolbar. I use the old school windows toolbar layout which has text beside the icon. I like it this way instead of going through little popup windows to sort through my shit.
This is about all I can remember for my first online experience. Just remember opening AOL and not exactly knowing what else to do except click around random links, looking at whatever websites I came across, all with that classic 90s basic HTML look.
Every time I have tried a different browser than Firefox I could never get it set up quite right. I never strayed from Firefox only because of the openness of the add-ons and customization, even when Firefox was miles behind when it came to browsing speed in the early 2010s as Chrome was popping off.
Anyone who tells me Chrome is better hasn’t seen my multitude of tab add-ons which are the only thing that hold my online life together.
Plus, I recall google limiting adblockers and such on Chrome at a certain point. Firefox would never
Yep. I’m 100% sold on it. Thank you very much kind human. It’s crazy how used to Google I had become. Not thinking about features which would be helpful like simply raising/lowering a sites visibility. It even has done well for me when it comes to local searches! Truly a game changer.
Um… I seem to be forgetting just how cable TV was like paid YouTube. Could you refresh my memory?
You may have changed my life with kagi. It is amazing so far at giving the results I want, and categorizing stuff like discussions so you don’t have to add “Reddit” at the end of every search to get decent results.
The golden days of IRC were the best. Every day I use the current internet, I miss the way of the old internet. Back when everything was just run by a bunch of nerds doing whatever they wanted, as opposed to everyone being shut out by the big names now, looking to control everything and maximise profit.
Xhamster is probably the last site I would want my personal info related with too lmao
This is the main reason I want one. I originally got a gaming laptop for work trips, but my main computing device is such a scary thing to bring on trips. A deck would be perfect though.
I’ve always wondered if subscriptions would balloon if they just charged like $2 per month. But I think they set the price where it is so it can be competitive vs potential ad revenue (which they are amping up like crazy)
I quite enjoy YouTube premium. I was an avid Adblock/YouTube Vanced user before, but now that I am a little older and make more money, I realized it’s worth it to me to get premium. I don’t pay for any other streaming services, and YouTube is what I watch the most so I figured why not support it.
It makes me feel better knowing my money gets distributed to creators as well through YouTube. That did not happen before as I always blocked ads. Plus I don’t need Spotify if I want to stream music because I have YouTube music. And YouTube music actually seems to have more of the music I like anyways, plus I already liked finding music through YouTube channels anyways.
I’m not advocating that everyone should buy YouTube premium, I’m just saying that it can have its merits for some people.
Same. I’ve actually made a friend via the chat lol
I was a slutty nun for Halloween and looking cute in a skirt is definitely possible, but man does it take a lot of work to find anything that fits decently. Dresses are simply impossible to find of course because, as you said, the shape is not at all made for men.
Also that outfit made me want to go full f1nn5ter and dress up in feminine clothes all the time lol. It’s so much fun! I’m so down for people to figure out how to make the shape work for masculine body shapes.
If Lemmy stays just niche enough to keep the hoardes of angry internet users away, I think we might just have a goldmine.
Reddit didn’t always use to be such a cesspool of hate. I think as things grow and attract the masses, they attract the type of people that are only on the internet to be driven by their emotions. The up/downvote system solidifies that too.
My thinking is that you can have a campfire with 20 people around it and still have meaningful conversations. Put 1000 around that same campfire and shit will go sideways.
It certainly became degrading after a while. I have had some amazing conversations on Reddit, but as time went on they became more and more sparse.
I haven’t thought back on Reddit much until lately with all the bullshit that’s been happening and man, being in this space reminds me of why I enjoyed Reddit in the first place.
I can relate in so many instances on Reddit where I recognized something and would explain it, but people would argue against (like you said) or my comment would get overlooked entirely as it wouldn’t create enough buzz.
I think the fediverse is just the soft reset that the internet needed.
Somebody on here snagged the username “spez” and that brings me great joy as well
It’s actually quite refreshing typing out a comment and not just erasing what I wrote right away like I would always do on Reddit. I always felt like there was hardly a point putting effort into comments on Reddit, unless I was on a more niche sub.
I’ve been thinking this for a while now. Nothing gets people more excited than a celebrity, and Trump is proof of that. Dems definitely need to fight back with a classically “alpha” seeming white male celebrity to fight back.
