  • "How did I make my first million dollars? I started a business selling all of my parents' expensive artwork. Now I'm going to teach you how you can start your own million-dollar business, just like I did!"

  • When Kellyanne Conway said, "alternate facts" you had to know this was going to be a dark ride.

  • 5 years ago voice assistants were being promoted with all the breathless excitement that "AI" is receiving today. I imagine in 5 year's more time Google will be giving the same listless attention to their AI products that they are giving to their voice assistants now. Well, actually to just about every product they've ever made, except maybe for Google Mail.

  • My how things have changed over the years! Why, when I was a young girl, we didn't have the internet. When we wanted to turn a light on, we had to write a letter to Ford Motor Co. (They were the tech of the day.) I'd write, "Dear Mr. Ford, please give us permission to turn on our light in the dining room." Of course then we'd have to find a stamp, then walk the letter down to the nearest post office. (That was faster than waiting for the mailman to pick it up from the neighborhood mail box.) Sure enough, 6 weeks later we'd receive a reply saying, "Fine, turn on the light in the dining room." The postman delivered mail in the morning, so we had to wait until dark to all gather around in the dining room and turn on the light with great ceremony.

We never understood why we needed to get permission from a company far away to turn on a light switch, but we were patriotic Americans, so we knew better than to question the process.

  • MAGA voters were OK with the idea that on each "rigged" ballot, the votes for Republicans should be counted but the votes for Democrats were illegal and should be ignored.

  • “cursed dice allow you to give your players a unique die to use for the session to show the effect of their misguided actions. A D19 to show a curse that prevents criticals and natural 20s.”

To emphasis the “effect of their misguided actions” the numbers on the dice should be really difficult to read.

  • Yeah, good point.

  • Gerrymandering: “I did this.”

This is what you get when politicians are not afraid of being voted out. They no represent their constituents.

Along with endless, legal bribery and a host of other issues, of course.

  • I’m not sure which is worse:

    • greedy, irresponsible tech bros trying to convince everyone that their pinball machine can fly an airplane.
    • people desperate to let the same pinball machine tell them what to do with their lives.
  • Now watch as Dems throw their support behind the independent in order to undermine Zohran.

  • We’re leaderless, we’re messageless, we’re agendaless.

Don’t worry. If there’s another election, their donors will buy them all of those things.

They don’t have those things now because their donors neither want nor need them. Why spend money on a leader to push the Democratic party to the right when the party in power is already pushing everything to the right?

The radical right isn’t installing fascism. The donors are paying both parties to install fascism. Why pay off an entire congress when it’s much easier to pay off a single dictator?

  • Oh, stop your complaining. It’s not perfect, but we’ve all seen how easy this is to fix. Just barge into Tesla tomorrow and randomly fire 20% of the employees. That’s how real leaders get things done.

  • Isn’t it a confession that he wittingly employs undocumented migrants and isn’t it illegal?

They stopped even trying to maintain that lie decades ago. 20 years ago the paper had an article with a local farmer vocally declaring “We can’t afford to hire legal migrant labor. Too much regulation. They make us provide toilets and pay minimum wage.”

I wasn’t surprised that farmers exploited migrants. I was surprised that it was so common that the farmer felt safe having his name and picture next to a quote in a regional newspaper declaring, “Of course I break federal laws.”

  • Citizens United is widely seen as the last wall preventing the rich from buying control of the country.

  • They’re saying “free” email services. What they mean are disposable e-mail services. You go to a website, they provide you with a random e-mail address. You enter that address into the form, check for the verification code on the disposable e-mail site and you’re done with the disposable e-mail. You never visit the disposable site again. Do a search for “disposable email”.

  • The wild thing is, turning off autopilot and using lane keep and cruise is fine.

Mine isn’t. I don’t have or use “self driving”. I have used cruise control (what Tesla refers to as “autopilot”) but it is risky. My Tesla’s cruise control has slammed on the brakes on interstates at 65 MPH multiple times. I’ve stopped using it because it is so dangerous. If there had been a large truck behind me any of those times it would have been ugly.

  • All the checks and balances that are supposed to safeguard against this are non-functional, by choice.

    Follow the money.

  • I will never forgive Carley Fiorino for killing HP.

  • Eventually they'll start demanding you run their crypto-miners in order to watch a video.
