  • Didn't know it existed and apparently The number 451 1953 dystopian novel Fahrenheit 451, in which books are illegal.

  • I put a disclaimer under the article to take it with a grain of salt considering that the person running the site is shady and seems to be into eugenics yikes.

  • I agree they should block all UK ip addresses and issue a disclaimer that this is due to the online safety act. Not being able to access the Wikipedia will make the citizens petition the government to repeal the act.

  • I think only the UK does this now, the EU is in planning phase. Even the countries that have dictatorship don't do age verification for Wikipedia. The UK seems to be going through a phase similar to when books were banned because of content and considering that many people read online books this will definitely affect digital book readers.

  • Me too. They actually made stop being lazy and make a full automated server specifically for this. Netflix was awful too with the buffering.

  • This might actually make people move to Lemmy nice.

  • Mozilla does it again, adding useless crap.

  • We are living in a Brave New World.

  • This falls on the parents instead because of dumb laws every one has to deal with this, I just hope that not all countries are this insane:

users in the UK have had to take photos of themselves and upload it to a service that uses AI to guess their age. Or, send in photos of ID such as passports or driving licenses.

  • It wouldn't help much with inflation, but it wouldn't fluctuate as much as bitcoin due to all transactions being secret It is relatively stable. With monero you wouldn't have to worry about the value changing a lot in the span of a couple of hours.

  • I believe monero has protections to prevent this. All transactions are secret.

  • Yep definitely, it is amazing. It is what BTC should have been.
