  • I don't think steam link is perfect as a frequent user, there's lots of connectivity issues

  • Hot take maybe but Linux isn't for everyone, you gave it a fair shot and if it didn't click with you then use Windows again.

If you want to keep trying then you already what you have to do: just be patient and try to learn how things work, watch videos etc

Don't what that ? Then use Windows again. As a Linux user I appreciate that you tried, as most people don't.

  • I use Nvidia on desktop and haven't had any issues

    I use arch and cachyOS

I'm not sure what people do that kill their system frequently, and I like to think I'm over-thinkering with things.

  • Debian is what you put on your grandma's Facebook machine

To put it in a less elitist way: you can put it on a family PC for light entertainment or for things like homework for kids

To be perfectly clear: most people use their PC as a glorified Facebook machine.

(it also doesn't have to be Facebook but the concept is the same)

  • the curvy sides kind of kill it for me lmao. I don't mind the rounding in the corners but the fact that the watch's sides are curved know kills the aesthetic

  • hmm I don't consider that part of like config stuff although I get it's a dotfile

  • I share my dotfiles, I don't see anything intimate or personal in there. I share them because other Linux enthusiasts have asked about what to use or how I config it.

It's in my GitHub but what I don't do is share my GitHub publicly, mostly cause it links me from my shit posting social media where I'm too open about things, into the work and irl landscape.

I like to keep those things separate.

  • yes and also: you are here working 40+ hours a week every day until your body gives and the health issues take over

  • I haven't used Mac in years, I wonder if Wine is now a much better experience as well compared to what it used to be.

  • Gaming on Mac was also more or less the same when it came to running windows games, had to use wine

And I'm sorry y'all I know wine is awesome but using it manually is a pain in the ass and I hated it and I consider myself more of an enthusiast

  • You're winning the argument against the giant man of straw you've made

  • Idk why you're down voted, let's get this shit nipped in the bud while Lemmy is still growing

  • Really feels like the comic artist wrote 'died like an idiot' to argue against himself in bad faith from the get go

  • I use Ubuntu professionally and Arch at home

Anything that's not Windows is my preference.

I love arch because I know what's in it and how to fix it and what to expect, the community is mostly very nice and open to help

AUR is great and using pacman feels lovely

I also care about learning and understanding the system I'm using beyond just using a GUI that does everything for me

Ubuntu is not bad it's probably one of the most used distros by far

Linux motto is: Use what you like and customize it how you like because there is no company forcing you to do things their way

  • Me pretty much only ever using arch Linux: "what the fuck is a flatpak"

I once had to install Firefox into wsl (Ubuntu) and I wanted the kms on the spot.

But maybe it's not that bad for newer people to get started with Linux.

  • Trump got elected by your "good people" and also the Lemmy community is a niche, also anecdotes are not evidence.

  • Yeah, I doubt it.

I meant the image for clarification

  • "game dev" is a way to put it

  • Can't get the thoughts that this earth was made for psychopaths off my mind
