Hi guys! So I have been testing RDR on a hacked switch, on a PC with a 1070 and a 6700, and on the SD (both using Yuzu Pineapple 3851). Seems the switch is still offering a smoother experience, even when Yuzu claims 30fps. It feels more…jittery? Is there a way to soften the framerate?
Thanks!
Did you gave a try to the xbox360 edition, through xenia ? Maybe you could get better result.
I haven’t, but my understanding is that Xenia while having made some good progress in the last year, is not so close to decent performance as Yuzu is.
Another lead is a ps3 emulator. But for what I read about it, the ps3 is hard to emulate as it was hard to create games too, because of the architecture.
Are you talking about Red Dead Redemption?
Yup.
What settings are you using? I’ve heard turning CPU accuracy to unsafe helps. I’m yet to actually try it myself though!
Thanks, I’ll have to try that.
Yeah…I’m not sure that caused any improvements. I saw a very slight increase when turned in GPU advanced the accuracy to Normal, with no immediately noticeable graphical glitches, but still not as smooth as the native Switch. I’m not exactly sure what’s the issue, it’s not like the CPU/GPU are anywhere near full utilization, Yuzu claims 30fps most of the time…and yet it’s not the same, it’s… a bit more jittery.
Hmm you may need to check a Yuzu discord or something for more specific tips. It may just be that Yuzu isn’t yet optimised for RDR?
So wait, I may be confused, you are trying to play the switch version of red dead redemption on a steam deck? Why not the pc version
Beacuse RDR never been released on PC. RDR2 was released on PC but the first one, never.
Huh, didn’t know that, such a shame it’s a great game. Though I almost wonder if a 360 or ps3 emulator may work better than Yuzu
Ps3 is hard to emulate. Maybe xenia could manage it.
Maybe you could try a different switch emulator. Yuzu isnt the only one.
