As long as we are talking about old games that are still the gold standard, how is it possible no one has recreated the giant-god-monster and city management game Black and White yet?! That game was fantastic, and its premise so solid. It seems ripe for replication in more contemporary engines.
There is this one: https://fata-deum.com/
I backed it on kickstarter ages ago. Have not played so ymmv, but its meant to be a spiritual successor to the B&W games.
Dang this looks SO close to what I’d want. It’s just missing big ass creatures.
Big-Ass Creatures or Big Ass-Creatures?
Following links i guess its not released yet. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1330360/Fata_Deum/ looks good on the steam page anyway
Looks interesting but the trailer doesn’t really portrait the same spark as black and white. What made BW so interesting was really how charming it was combined with an interaction method that made you feel godly. This has the idea of being a god, but will you interact using godly powers? Or do you just change settings via menus no different than any other Civ like game.
Check out open black and white.
Think about how awesome a black and white style game would be in VR!
Is there an ELIF version of the instructions? Do I need to install all the things linked on the page? Just some? Just one?
I wish someone would!! Maybe if we bring it up enough, the ether will listen and give us an indie version or something
I made a Black and White inspired VR prototype three years ago in university. And I believe in the VR space there are several smaller commercial attempts of doing just that, since the control scheme is one of the few that fit so perfectly for VR.
Sadly none of them are really good yet, but my hopes havent completely died yet. No matter if in VR or not.
Theres a handful but Reus is probably the most successful.
Ghost of Tsushima can be played from start to finish in a Kurosawa style black and white.
OP was referencing the Will Wright game Black & White.
Peter Molyneux. Will Wright created SimCity and The Sims. Peter Molyneux created Black & White and Populous (and Fable, and Dungeon Keeper, and Theme Hospital, and honestly he had a really fucking good run until he disappeared up his own arse and then returned as a grifter).
