I posted this because it’s still an issue I run into nowadays. And I know what you’re most likely thinking. ‘Well, you must be playing with greenbeards.’ Surprisingly, it’s mostly players that are ranked 30 - 50, that don’t seem to remember or care to use the flare gun, when it seems fitting. If I had to chuck it all up, I would say that greenbeards (ranked 0 -20) make up about 7% of the players that I play with, within a given week. They get a pass as they are still learning the game. Miners (ranked 21 - 40) seem to make up about 20% of players I play with, within a given week. They are experienced but still make a few/several greenbeard errors from time to time. They for whatever reason(s), seem to forget to use their specialty guns. Dwarf (ranked 41 - 60) They tend to make up about 15% of players I play with, within a given week. They know their shit pretty well. They are just working on mastery for the most part. And surprising to me, they seem to have the most people not using their flair gun to light up big areas until several minutes after we have walked around. Or they don’t keep a few light sources going while we are in the area.
It’s just weird to me to experience it this often, that I’ve gotten into a habit of asking nicely for light from a scout, after a few minutes of being in a big area.
Wow, thanks for the breakdown! This is actually very interesting to me, since I usually play either solo or with my friend group and ALWAYS casually. I just find it funny because “why wouldn’t you use your flare gun? You can see better!”
Seriously, i love that thing. The power of the sun in my pocket!

I started to play scout most of the time, cause i got annoyed by scouts that are not really scouting :D
