It’s nice that Voyager has dark mode, but if I open it at night, in a dark room, the white splash screen blinds my eyes, even if it’s visible only for a short duration. Therefore, I’d like the splash screen to be a dark themed one, if dark mode is enabled.

There’s a splash screen? My screen turns just dark gray for a short time with nothing on it.

I’m using a Pixel 4a (5g) with Firefox as default browser.

You may have to remove Voyager and add it back to your home screen. The app icon didn’t show the new name until I did that. I got a splash screen too

I don’t miss the splash screen 😆 it’s good like it is now. Also having the wefwef name and icon. Wefwef was in my opinion a better name (marketing wise) then the common name “voyager”.

Valid tbh! Idk, wefwef was kinda easy to trip over when saying it in my opinion (Although I talk fast, so that might just be a me thing)

    What platform are you using?

Latest iOS 16 on an iPhone 14 pro max and my splash is black with the app logo. Dark mode is always on on my phone if that matters.

A way to force it would be nice though.

Android, Galaxy Fold 4. Dark mode is always on for me too, and I don’t have this issue with any other app.

Splash screen follows the device dark mode, not app dark mode. Because splash screen is decided before JavaScript can execute.

Is there a possibility of any workaround, like making a full-screen image or setting the background color to black? I’ve tried multiple browsers (Samsung Internet, Chrome, Kiwi Browser) and all of them show a white splash screen even when dark mode is enabled both in the browser and system.

Edit: Nevermind, Firefox doesn’t have this issue. Will use it with Firefox I guess.

I think this is more a thing with your device

So basically Voyager is just a website with a fancy shortcut in your app drawer. What’s happening is most likely in the few milliseconds before Voyager loads your device shows a blank web page which is white by default

That’s probably out of the dev’s control

With a PWA (assuming platform support ofc) the dev can set a screen to show while the app is loading, much like a native app

Maybe try and install voyager through a different browser? I used Firefox on Android and it consistently crashes when I go to open it but it always loads on the second attempt. I’ve been meaning to try and install it through Chrome or something to see if it helps

It seems to work better with chrome, but trying to get links to open into Firefox is a tremendous pain in the ass, so I put up with some of the jankiness of Firefox for the PWA.
