    it’s rare that I find myself agreeing with a Christian of any denomination, or a religious person in general. it’s refreshing, to say the least, to see some rationality from them, though I of course understand why the religious are so often not.

    I’m not American, but I will point this out: weakening the president’s powers is a good counter when someone so blatantly unfit for office nonetheless manages to get elected, but the on the flipside, it also restrains people who are competent, and desire better things for the people in general. there’s a very real risk of making the system such a quagmire of beaurocracy that it can’t get anything done, for good or ill.

    ultimately I think the answer is not necessarily more restraints on the president themselves, but rather, more criteria on who can even be elected to that office.
