  • Of course she doesn't care now, she's only a few years away from retiring or dying on the job anyways

  • Rick Scott champion of the people

The former hospital company CEO oversaw what was the biggest case of Medicare fraud at the time. Under his leadership, Columbia/HCA gave kickbacks to doctors to refer patients and then made patients’ conditions appear worse than they were so Medicare would pay more.

When Scott was forced out of the company as it was under investigation, he left with $300 million in stock, a $5.1 million severance, and a $950,000-per-year consulting contract for five years. The hospital, meanwhile, was fined $1.7 billion, the largest health care fraud settlement in history until that point.

  • I think they just plugged their ears and decided as a group that infact no one cared about this, you can be as delusional as you want if you only look at bad polling.

  • You gotta be a real sicko to have the substack app installed and on top of that have their push notifications enabled

  • It's amazing that "lifetime" positions are not considered controversial in and of themselves by most people.

  • Hope Miriam Adelson is happy, she got what she paid for.

  • I think it could happen, but it would have to be a foss app and a paid service or funded by ads, because you need paid people to moderate services like that, moderation on lemmy is about civility and people being mean to eachother, but moderation on a dating app might involve dealing with sexual assault and other illegal things in a much more prominent way. Or it would have to be funded by a government or charity which is not very likely in the present.

  • Fellow defense attorney David O. Markus told The Associated Press that in Miami, Black was viewed in legal circles as the GOAT, i.e. the greatest of all time, comparing him to NBA Hall of Famer Michael Jordan.

Newsweek with some hard hitting reporting.

  • RIP and him dying and Jonathan Joss getting murdered puts a damper on the KOTH relaunch, but I imagine both will be memorialized in some way on it.

  • We at least don't serve that to children generally.

  • All toilets will be state mandated to have one of those awful "smile you're being filmed" stickers

  • I don't think a lot of legal food can be considered poison, but both HFCS and sugar soda are really close. Also any other drink with heaps of sugar dumped into it. If you had to pour 40-50g of sugar into your glass you would likely not do it, but when someone else does it for you, you don't have to think about it.

  • I wouldn't post to any community they moderate anyways, one of the biggest rage baiters on lemmy

  • Is this more of a thing that since there have been a bunch of plane incidents the media is reporting them more often, like the train derailments after East Palestine Ohio or is there a lot more of there happening than usual? Or both or neither, idk.

  • Arab-Israeli

    *Palestinian

  • I think the democrats would almost certainly rather lose an election than sell out Bill Clinton.

  • ext4 would be normal for linux and windows is usually formatted as ntfs, there's nothing abnormal with the partitions if you were trying to do just mint, unless the install messed with something weird in the bios I can't imagine why it wouldn't boot if you erased the drive while installing mint only, the installation should select that partition to boot without you having to do anything extra
