  • Yeah, I fully expect this to be lip service. They’ve been married to the Republican Party for too long, they have too much money they’re going to lose access to if they actually defend a trans gun owner who loses their guns or is denied a gun purchase.

If I’m wrong I’ll be pleasantly surprised, but there’s a reason Pink Pistols is its own thing and not just a club run by the NRA.

  • That’s good to know, I had assumed that was for search engines crawling the site and not the search within Piefed. Thanks for the update!

  • For some reason I always thought their slogan was ‘armed gays bash back.’ Maybe I’ve just seen stickers on things of that slogan paired with Pink Pistols logos a lot.

  • There were no autistic people before the 70s, of course 🙄

  • My experience is that it’s never just one thing, either. If they’re using it for voice or imagery they’re probably using it for scripts, too. So the end result is slop on top of slop on top of slop, even if I would have been able to ignore a single element of it.

  • I remember getting pro-Israel ads literally the day after the attacks and was like wow, kinda gross. But also they just had this shit ready to go? Or were able to churn it out that quickly? It seems really disrespectful to those that died.

  • If you can’t feel sympathy for someone who was sexually exploited as a child because of the party they’ve registered with—because, reminder, you don’t know how they voted—you need to take a moral inventory.

  • A) That’s a cheetah

    B) Deranged response to a survivor of childhood sexual exploitation who is trying to get justice

  • FWIW I do get a fair amount of ads from Newsom asking for donations and talking about the redistricting measure on the ballot. I also get that fucking Kristi Noem ad that makes me feel violence in my heart.

  • Because people are way, way worse at spotting trans people than they think they are. And they’re really bad at statistics.

Cis women are literally half the population, so even if you assume 95% of cis women look so feminine that nobody could mistake them for male, that still means you’re roughly 10x more likely to run into a ‘masculine looking’ cis woman than a trans woman period, regardless of how masculine or feminine she looks to anyone.

  • You’re assuming that registration = vote, when that’s not necessarily the case. In areas where Republicans are the majority (like Louisiana) it’s not uncommon for left leaning people to register and vote in the Republican primaries and then vote Democratic in the election, because the only real time they have a voice in the political process is trying to get the least shitty Republican on the ballot.

Do I know that’s what happened here? No. And neither do you. It’s a victim blaming distraction from the fact that this administration is allowing disabled children to suffer and die.

  • !archaeology@mander.xyz cries out for content! I think this being a reproduction of an actual artifact would make it okay to post there.

  • “Biodegradable” doesn’t mean “biodegradable in the conditions in the human body.” Lots of ‘green’ plastics are only compostable at a fairly high temperature (120F/50C) and with specific bacteria present.

  • The fact that’s still true should tell you just how dangerous driving is.

  • Both of those temperatures are pretty fucking hot, and I live in the southwest US! Humidity is of the devil and I’m glad it drops like a rock here when it gets really hot. Nosebleeds from 20% humidity are so much better than suffocating heat.

  • He's redistricting California

He got it on the ballot, which is being voted on in November. This is not the same thing as him redistricting the state, and it also gives him a way to be blameless if it fails.

From what I can tell there isn’t a law that requires districting changes go to a popular vote in California. If I’m wrong on this someone please correct me.

  • I… literally linked to it. The article is about the study those numbers come from.

  • The vast majority of Californian homeless people become homeless in California. Some people do come here from out of state, but it’s around 10% of the total homeless population. 75% of homeless Californians even live in the same county they became homeless in.

California doesn’t have a ton of homeless people because everyone else is bussing homeless people here, it’s because it’s expensive as fuck (both rent and home prices).

  • Thank you for listening. As you might imagine, this is extremely stressful.
