As far as I know Lemmy stores only text locally and images and such will be linked to the external instance. Text doesn’t use much disk space, so that shouldn’t be a big a problem. Sometimes when you browse Lemmy, you notice posts that have broken links to images. It’s because the other instance is down, but you can still see the text portion of the posts on your home instance.
There’s also pornlemmy.com. You don’t need to be logged in to view posts and there’s no anime/hentai or aigen stuff.
Did you just ask that has Reddit ever given anything back to their volunteers, besides sticks, rocks and ill will?
r/Blind is still a valuable resource for many people. No sense denying people access to it. r/Blind mods already created a Lemmy instance which they try to promote for their members. But learning new software can be challenging when you can’t see, especially if the software isn’t very accessible.
Someone needs to start a “campaign” for naming and shaming companies who advertises on Reddit. “[This company] supports a company that actively discriminates against the disabled. #SayNoToReddit”
I would reinstall Windows, especially if the current installation is old. As long as you can connect all the drives to your computer, you can move files from the old disks. If the games on F: and G: are on Steam or Epic (and other similar launchers probably works similarly), it’s easy to move the games around using those launchers. Games that have been installed outside of such launchers might not work if they are moved to a disk with different drive designation or if they are moved to a new Windows installation.
That list won’t show which instances have block the home instance. The blocked list lists only the instances the home instance has blocked, not the other way around.
Make sure that your changes actually “sticks”. There are multiple reports of people trying to delete or edit posts, only for them to come back soon after. It seems that deleting isn’t possible and when mass editing posts, there needs to be long enough delay (5 seconds or so) between each edit.
Isn’t it so that if you play hardcore mode (your character dies permanently), and you disconnect for any reason, your character is considered dead? Online only requirement goes really well for that kind of game mode, where it might be the server that falls offline, and not your PC…
Quick googling says that 1 long beep and 3 short beeps means the RAM is not working correctly. One of the two sticks might have failed. Try the machine with one stick at a time.
Those error “codes” might be manufacturer specific. Try to google “1 long beep and 3 short beeps” and your motherboard manufacturer.
The beta app should work for the next three months. The developers will submit the app again to TestFlight. You can then join the new beta, or wait for the App Store version, whenever that happens. If you are happy with the beta you have, consider to let others join the new beta. For example, blind users might want to get the new beta because it will be the only Lemmy client that supports VoiceOver.
They try to submit the app to App Store 1st of July, and after that it will take from few days to weeks for it to be accepted to App Store.
r/Blind mods created their own Lemmy instance at https://rblind.com/. They use some beta features and their own modifications to make it more accessible.
Some of the big things that happened in the past 24h or so:
Also r/ModCoord has started recommending moderators to move their communities to other platforms, like Lemmy.
XQC is doing their first stream on Kick, and the site has been down more or less the whole time.
Well this turned ugly fast.
Huffman, also a Reddit co-founder, said he plans to pursue changes to Reddit’s moderator removal policy to allow ordinary users to vote moderators out more easily if their decisions aren’t popular. He said the new system would be more democratic and allow a wider set of people to hold moderators accountable
Reddit CEO slams protest leaders, saying he’ll change rules that favor ‘landed gentry’
Would also be great if the new comments would be highlighted.
