  • What is the PWM frequency with DeckSight? I'm pretty sensitive to that and my regular OLED model sadly strains my eyes within an hour. Maybe something like this could be a better alternative for me.

  • I've heard about that but haven't noticed it myself. It does sound annoying.

  • Yeah the control panel revisions took some getting used to, but now I think it's not so bad. I know where to find everything but I can see how it's frustrating for others. What's most important to me is that I have local admin rights on my work PC and can customize it to my liking. Many companies lock their devices down heavily, and I don't want to deal with that.

  • I'm currently sticking to Windows 10 on my private machines but already on 11 on my work computer and it's fine with an alternative start menu. I'm also looking forward to the better HDR features on 11.

  • No, I don't want Linux or any other OS. I perfectly know my way around with Windows and so many of my regular tasks depend on tools made for Windows. I have used Linux desktop in the past and have many friends and co-workers who use it as their main OS, but it's just not for me.

Besides of course this recall stuff gets blown way out of proportion like every time Microsoft makes a bad move. All of my computers don't even support recall and when they eventually do, I'll just disable it in one of like four possible different ways.

  • Yeah it's inescapable really. Many people probably are more up to date with American politics than those of their own country.

  • Rematch hasn't released yet, but a few public playtests happened. While there are some strong similarities to Rocket League like controlling a single player, the walled arena and having a form of boost, it's still very different and hasn't yet given me the same thrill.

Rematch does not have the verticality, and so it's missing a whole dimension (and multiple degrees of freedom) of skill expression. The arena is significantly larger, as it's built for more players, which results in a much slower game. It has the potential to be a very solid new esports game, however I can't see it pulling away many players from Rocket League.

  • Well that's the neat part

  • At least it doesn't have super distracting glass effects everywhere.

  • It's called dynamic compression, often labeled as night mode. Makes quiet stuff louder and loud stuff more quiet. My AVR has it as a feature and probably most TVs as well.

  • Oh, it does show up on desktop, not on mobile however.

  • Another GitHub project with no screenshots

  • It's also 80€ in Europe. Everyone I talked to is waiting for the price to drop, including me.

  • That has been possible for a long time already, and I can't see what publishing the source code changes in that regard. Am I missing something? It still costs more money to use Windows over Linux, and I think that is the reason why governments are moving over.

  • And how is this going to stop anyone from moving away from Microsoft?

  • I don't think that, as Microsoft hasn't done a lot (any?) of that stuff in recent years. It's good to be cautious but really what is the problem with opening the source for something that already existed for a while and is embraced by many?

  • WSL allows me to develop in a Linux environment while still enjoying my very custom Windows setup and programs that I am used to. So no, WSL did not make me choose a side, but instead helps me to get the best of both worlds at once.

  • On Windows it's "taskkill".
