  • World leaders and CEOs all know how to play the game. All of them.

It’s both astonishing and nauseating to watch.

  • Of course no. But that really wasn't my point.

We live in a world flooded with shit. Shit media. Shit research. Shit products. Shit software.

It's our duty to boycott shit and avoid encouraging shit.

  • Telesur is owned by the Government of Venezuela.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not opposing to posting what Nicolas Maduro is saying.

But we should avoid directly quoting any organizations owned by authoritarian regimes

  • I find this criticism quiet unfair.

When it comes to stoking division, there are far more guilty papers

The Guardian is one of the only papers that I actually respect.

There is a reason they won more journalism awards than any other UK newspaper.

    https://www.theguardian.com/culture/2022/jan/06/guardian-wins-investigation-and-journalist-of-the-decade-awards

I'm not British but I financially support The Guardian. They publish investigations that have influence far away from the United Kingdom. In a world where thugs like Rupert Murdoch call the shots, it's important to have a respected non-profit english newspaper.

  • Peter Mandelson.

    • MP
    • Secretary of State for Trade
    • Special advisor to Tony Blair.
    • Served in the European Commission as a representative of Britain
    • Member of the House of Lords.
    • Corporate lobbyist.

    This is his profile:

During the 2009 expenses scandal, The Daily Telegraph raised questions about the timing of Mandelson's second home allowance claim, dating from 2004, saying, "Lord Mandelson billed the taxpayer for almost £3,000 of work on his constituency home in Hartlepool less than a week after announcing his decision to stand down as an MP."

On 22 April 2005, The Times revealed that Mandelson had spent the previous New Year's Eve on the yacht of Paul Allen, the co-founder of Microsoft, which was at the centre of a major EU investigation

In 2006, The Daily Mail reported that Mandelson had received a free cruise on a yacht from Diego Della Valle, a controversial Italian mogul, raising questions as Della Valle's businesses (such as luxury shoe brand Tod's) benefited from tariffs imposed shortly thereafter by Mandelson as EU Trade Commissioner on Chinese shoes [123][124]

Reports also indicated that Mandelson had been lent a private jet by Nat Rothschild, who also benefited from his decisions, while serving as Commissioner [125][126]

In October 2008 Mandelson was reported to have maintained private contacts over several years with Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska, most recently on holiday in August 2008 on Deripaska's yacht at Taverna Agni on the Greek island of Corfu.[130]

In November 2010, Mandelson and Ben Wegg-Prosser founded Global Counsel, a London-based lobbying firm with the financial support of WPP, the advertising giant.[81][82]

As a corporate lobbyist, he personally helped clients such as Shein, Shell, Palantir, Alibaba, TikTok, and the UK private water industry obtain meetings with ministers and senior officials.[84][85]

Peter Mandelson has been criticised for being a member of the House of Lords while running a lobbying firm.[140]

In 2021, he was the only Labour peer to vote against an amendment denouncing genocide in Xinjiang.[140]

Basically a huge piece of shit. The sort of politician that believes in nothing except money.

Actually, perhaps this is why he was appointed ambassador

  • Fuck Google

    I deleted my Gmail account.

I also deleted my YouTube account. I put my favorite Youtube channels in my Firefox bookmarks.

Last but not the least, I don't use a smartphone anymore. Turns out you don't actually need the internet with you 24/7. If somebody really needs me, they can call.

  • I mean, this is what the people of Texas ultimately want.

These lawmakers didn't fall from the sky. They were elected by the people of Texas.

Greg Abott, the powerful governor of Texas ? He was elected by the people of Texas. He is wildly popular.

  • UK citizens aren’t allowed to speak out against Israel or even say anything remotely bad about Israel

This is absolutely false. You will find countless MPs in Parliament criticizing Israel. You will find countless articles in the British press criticizing Israel.

What you are referring to Palestine Action arrests.

This organization was banned after they breached into a Royal Airforce Base:

    https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cn81g4e0nlyo

Whether you think banning this organization is justified or not, this isn't remotely close to "UK citizens aren't allowed to speak out"

  • Regardless of the content of the article.

I want to remind people that the Middle East Eye is directly run by the Qatari Embassy in London:

    https://www.theguardian.com/world/2017/jun/23/close-al-jazeera-saudi-arabia-issues-qatar-with-13-demands-to-end-blockade

When Saudi Arabia and the UAE blockaded Qatar, the Middle East Eye started hitting them 24/7.

Another thing suspicious is the absence of revenue.

Around the world, newspapers fund themselves in 3 different ways :

    • Advertising
    • Subscriptions
    • Donations

The Middle East Eye has no advertising. It has no subscriptions. And they don't ask for donations.

I have never seen anything like this. How do they fund themselves...?!

Again, this is NOT an attack on the content. But people should simply know this is a state-run newspaper.

  • Gavin Newsome simply said it's fair to question whether trans should be allowed to play on girls teams.

This is a position that the VAST majority of the american working class agrees with.

Let us, for a moment, remember the median voter and the fact that politicians must try to appeal to them should they wish to gain office.

  • Iranians also got caught in Thailand.

    https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-17026007

    And in India

    https://www.france24.com/en/20120730-india-police-blame-iran-army-revolutionary-guards-bomb-attack-israel-diplomat-delhi

    And in Sweden

    https://apnews.com/article/sweden-iran-intelligence-attack-jews-deport-e1b1c706090df4d55c70935dc344ee06

Iranians are shias. They are the little black sheep of the Sunni Middle East. If you carefully study the history of Iran, you will notice that for centuries, the obsession of Iranian elites was always to be admired, respected, by the Sunnis. They are extremely self-conscious about being the only shia country.

Screaming "Death to Israel" is basically their shia soft power strategy to conquer the heart of sunnis

Every year, they have an event called Quds Day. There is a giant factory near Tehran that only produces Israeli flags. The flags are then burned. Ordinary Iranians are encouraged by authorities to upload pictures and videos in arabic on social media. The only goal is to have reaction such as "Wow! The Iranians are so cool :3" on arab social media. If they were actually honest, they would call Quds day "Iran Soft Power day".

The Iranian Regime has been shouting "Soon, very soon, we will destroy Israel 🤡" and "Holocaust is a manufactured event 🤡" for decades now.

Their problem is that it just keeps blowing up in their face

You know, this would actually be hilarious if the lives of millions of people weren't at stake

  • The people themselves took up arms and liberated themselves

With all due respect, what you are spewing here is complete non-sense.

    1. Hezbollah is not ''the people''. They have killed countless Lebanese journalists and critics. The judge who is investigating the Beirut Port explosion received death threats from Hezbollah.

    2. The Syrian occupation of Lebanon lasted longer than the Israeli occupation. Hezbollah publically praised the Syrian military.

The Lebanese Civil War ended in 1990 with the Taief Agreement. 70% of Lebanon was occupied by the Syrian Army. The Syrian Military occupied Beirut, Sidon, Tripoli and all major lebanese cities. The Israelis occupied 7 kilometers in the south, mainly shia villages.

Hezbollah fought the Israelis to free some tiny shia villages. However, they actively collaborated with the Syrian military. The Israelis fully withdrew in 2000. The Syrians announced they will not withdraw. Hezbollah was fine with that. Why ? Because Syria was allied with Iran.

In 2006, Prime Minister Rafik Hariri, who publically called for Syrian troops to withdraw was assassinated. Rafik Hariri was widely respected and he played a key role in the reconstruction of Lebanon. There is overwhelming evidence that Syria and Hezbollah were behind it.

The United Nations voted to create a Special Tribunal to investigate Hariri's assassination .

When the prosecutors issue arrest warrants for Hezbollah commanders linked to the murder of Rafik Hariri, the boss of Hezbollah announced that he will 'cut the hands' of anyone trying to arrest them:

  • After decades of brutal wars, Egypt, Jordan and Israel signed peace agreements.

Peace has lasted for 50 years and 30 years. That's actually a win.

Some idealistic people expect a single deal that will magically fix the following issues:

    • Hamas/Israel
    • West Bank occupation
    • Syria/Israel relations
    • Iran/Israel relations
    • City of Jerusalem statute
    • Lebanon/Israel relations

I hate to say it but the Middle East isn't a place for idealism.

There is never going to be one agreement that fixes everything.

But removing an issue from that list and having peace would be huge win for Lebanon.
