  • I'm already decided, NYT, you don't have to sell it to me.

  • That's the one.

  • One of my favorite characters. I think I'm due for a rewatch.

  • In the words of Jamie Zawinski, "Linux is only free if your time has no value."

  • My work allows RHEL, but it's a specialized configuration that doesn't get updated very often. I tried it for a while but it was so out of date that I couldn't build half the tools I needed, so I ended up switching back to Windows. It was about 10-15 years ago when the C++ standard was undergoing a lot of changes, and the company-approved version of GCC was several years old and didn't support any of the newest features.

  • Even on a day where Missourians sort of overwhelmingly voted for Donald Trump, Josh Hawley and Governor Kehoe, they also overwhelmingly voted for an increase in paid sick days.

So they elected candidates who historically have opposed labor protections and government benefits, and then expected to get paid sick leave?

  • We've had one fascist party, yes. But what about second fascist party?

  • I played around with incomes in the $25K-$50K range and came up with similar numbers to yours. Basically, someone in that range who makes most of their income from tips stands to save anywhere from $1K-$3K, which could be significant. As AOC pointed out though, that could quickly turn into a net loss if you lose Medicaid benefits.

  • Rust: The Longest War, by Jonathan Waldman. It somehow makes metal corrosion interesting.

Also Napoleon's Buttons by Penny Le Couteur, a good look at chemistry throughout history.

  • I have to imagine that many people living off tips aren't making a whole lot of money, and consequently aren't currently paying much fed income tax anyway. How much money are they really going to save from this?
