  • You don't get to claim some moral high ground if you insult someone and they respond in kind. It's not some kind of ad hominem logical fallacy, it's just two people spitting at each other.

You're saying I'm "extracting a narrative" and "filled with conjecture" and yet you haven't even responded to the additional source I brought in that pointed out valid concerns with Newsom's approach to homelessness and the lack of resources as reported by homeless service professionals. The point isn't just to vilify him, the point is to hold him accountable for real policy failures and not let him get away with anti-homeless campaigns that do nothing to solve the actual problem.

I've brought evidence that supports my claims, and all you've done is attack me and call me disgusting. Truly, every accusation is a confession.

  • The point of these protests is networking. They’re not supposed to solve the problem, they’re supposed to connect you with like-minded people so you can organize actually meaningful actions like sabotage a la Palestine Action.

Resistance is hard work, you don’t get to just show up and light some shit on fire and expect the fascists to go home.

  • It’s better than nothing, though. Which is what it would be if our elder activists left it up to the young generations.

I get it, my partner and I are consistently the only ones under 60 at our local protests. I have been feeling profoundly disappointed by my fellow millenials. Can’t talk shit about the boomers though, at least they are actually out there doing something instead of doom posting.

  • You think the price hikes are going down? Lol

  • I did read the article, there’s no need to be a condescending prick.

It doesn’t say anywhere in the article that he’s actually increasing housing, just that he’s “connecting” people with housing services. The article I linked then says that housing services in the state are stretched past full capacity.

  • Newsom wants to clear out homeless encampments without expanding the services necessary to ensure they won’t just build an encampment somewhere else. That seems like abandonment to me.

  • Mods should be allowed to ban bot accounts, though.

  • When all encampments are deemed unsafe and local services are already stretched to the breaking point, I think we can be justified in calling this out for the performative anti-homeless bullshit it is.

Nothing short of a complete reorganization of the economy so that working class people are prioritized instead of billionaires will fix this problem though.

  • But the need for workers to defend themselves from the capitalist system/state has never been more pressing as the capitalists are once again choosing fascism. I doubt Marx would be advocating for disarmament in today’s world.

  • I'm not sure how you came to that conclusion based on what I wrote, but my suggestion is to not let companies escape consequences for shitty things they do simply because regulators fail to be effective at their jobs. Legally allowed is not the same as morally acceptable.

  • When our policymakers take direction from capitalists, it’s ok to blame to capitalists.

  • Joining socialist organizations doesn’t mean abandoning local politics. If anything, it means getting more involved.

  • Even more astounding to me is the large segment of the population who know that Trump is fascist and trying to become a dictator, yet can’t even be bothered to show up at a protest for two hours on a Saturday afternoon.

Literally all of my family and friends except for my partner (I’m so lucky there) fall into this category. Only two friends have attended a protest with me. One was clearly there just for the experience and the other was complaining the whole time that the protest won’t do anything.

You know who has been showing up in my area? The fucking boomers. It really feels like my generation is still waiting for mommy to fix the world for us.

  • Join a Marxist organization and build a socialist revolution. Communists are historically the most effective weapon against fascism.

  • I would argue that fascism is more of a response by the elites to prevent citizen’s frustrations from becoming revolution. While fascism certainly uses populism to get power initially, it does not rise organically from the people, but is rather imposed by the ruling class.

I think we’re mostly agreeing, but it’s important to explicitly point out that fascism is a tool of class warfare. This explains why Democratic leadership is mostly just standing by and watching - they are also members of the elite (or are bought/controlled by the elite), so they are terrified that regular people will demand change that removes them from their high tower.

  • Tesla knows immediately when one of its vehicles crashes because the vehicle sends Tesla HQ a detailed crash report that it then deletes from the car’s local storage. Wish I was making this up.

  • It’s nice to know the mods here think that states that do genocide deserve to exist.
