    Israel is committing genocide by killing civilians in Gaza on a scale that will destroy the people of Gaza if not stopped.

    Moscow's army is killing Ukrainian civilians – but not on a scale that endangers the survival of the Ukrainian people. That's a war crime, not genocide.

    Moscow does try to commit genocide on Ukraine, by denying Ukrainian identity, banning the language, destroying cultural heritage, appropriating culture and history, abducting children and forcing Ukrainians to become Russians – not only Rusyaniy (citizens of the Russian Federation), but Ruskiy (ethnic Russians).

    I don't know about other jurisdictions, but German websites are legally required to have some info including postal address about who owns the site, called impressum.

    I think US firms have a similar requirement for the licence agreement? Not sure about thid.

  • There is no such thing as a generic installer for all linux distributions. Distributions differ, and you cannot assume that an install script that works for distribution X will work on distribution Y. And that's exactly why linux is almost unusable without a package manager – you'd have to manage dependency hell, install paths, configuration and uninstalling process on your own.

    By the way, software repos are not maintained by the authors of projects, they are maintained by the distributors.

    Furthermore, piping a downloaded script into sh is such terrible practice, that everyone who offers this idea is either a malicious actor or utter ignorant of any basic security practice – you wouldn't want software from either.

  • Not OP, so i've got no idea why they think it's bad, but systemd breaks with unix's key design principles, and monopolizes and absteacts more and more aspects of system management. Some people do not like this.
