  • I just want to say this to all the people who are making up the most hare-brained excuses for why Harris lost.

Kamala Harris cobbled together a campaign in days that took a campaign that was going R+5 and counting and turned it into a toss-up. She had 107 days. From day one, she was held to an infinitely higher standard than Trump. Trump held a debate where he famously said “They’re eating the dogs!” and “I have concepts of a plan!.”, and Americans were just fine with it. But Harris wasn’t perfectly articulate with details over some economic plan or another and apparently this makes her unfit for President.

Arab-Americans were outraged over Harris’ support for Israel because of the genocide in Gaza. So to protest this, they voted for a man who has vowed even more support for israel and to genocide even harder, and also try to kick them out of the country in the process.

Latino men opted to vote for a man who made it a focal point of his campaign to round up and deport Latinos en-masse because the alternative was voting for a former prosecutor who also happens to be a woman.

White people decided that they want someone who’s going to fix the economy, so they decided to vote for a guy who campaigned on raising the cost of living by an average of about $400 a month while promising to appoint a budget czar who already said he actively plans on imposing “hardships” on poor people.

Well, it’s either that, or tens of millions of people in a country with a long-established history of racism and misogyny refused to vote for a black female president and just used these niche issues as excuses.

I know a lot of people don’t want to hear this, and I know what I’m about to say sounds racist as hell. But Obama was a fluke and America in general is just not willing to elect a minority again. That’s just all there is to it. The rise of Trump, the rise of far-right groups like the Proud Boys, and the 2024 election are proof of that. Democrat initiatives did relatively fine. The senate went GOP, but that was predicted with the loss of Manchin and Tester. Democrats in the House did fine. Kamala Harris did not.

And for those who believed that embracing centrist policies is what cost us the election, or we weren’t left enough, or we should have listened to people like Bernie and AOC: People like Bernie and AOC are wildly popular in their districts and with the far-left coalition of the voting base. But they are wildly unpopular outside of that. And keep in mind…I love both of them and would gladly vote for a future AOC as president. But given the current political makeup of the country, putting someone like Bernie or AOC on the ballot would have made the ass kicking Harris just got seem tame. Sure, they’d have won states like California and Massachusetts by gigantic margins. But they’d do little to nothing to flip red or purple states.

The fact of the matter is that the 2024 results prove that Americans like what the Democrats were selling. They just don’t want her to be the one selling it, as evidenced by the fact that only she underperformed so spectacularly. People were so unwilling to vote for a black, female President that over 10 million of them opted to stay home knowing full well that they were essentially voting for Trump.

A majority of this country is white. A majority of this country will not vote for a minority president again in this political climate. And if the Democrats put up another minority candidate in 2028 (assuming we even have elections), they will lose again. That’s just all there is to it. It’s a tough pill to swallow, but it’s the truth. It’s not right, but it’s the truth. You know how black people across the south have been fighting gerrymandering so they can have majority-black districts and vote for black candidates? Or for that matter, how minority candidates do better in minority districts when championing minority initiatives? White people are doing the same thing. And there’s a lot more of them. And they just proved that they absolutely will vote against their best interests vs. voting for a black woman.

  • Oh, I’m not saying it would be a good idea by any stretch of the imagination. Secessions would be the least we’d have to worry about.

I’m just saying that in a world where Trump has seriously and repeatedly suggested it, his voting base has actively said they’re OK with it, and all 3 branches are firmly and securely in his pocket, Trump going so far as to actually suspending the Constitution is a very, very real possibility. Especially if he’s being advised by an administration stacked from top to bottom with Trump yes-men and crazies that make Qanon conspiracy theorists seem sane.

  • No they won’t.

Trump just said that he’s going to impose tariffs that are going to increase the cost of living by about $400 a month per family. Elon Musk just said he plans on imposing “hardship” on the country for a few years. And Americans voted ovewhelmingly in favor of that. The economy will tank, yes. But they’ll just blame Democrats and the voters will eat it up.

Don’t believe me? gestures at Tuesday.

That’s assuming we have another election at all. Trump – A man, remember, that has repeatedly said that terminating the Constitution was on the table – now has the White House, both branches of government, a supreme court largely appointed by him, and several state governments. Moderate republicans have been successfully rooted out or marginalized. Trump could very well follow through on that promise, backdropped by the thunderous applause of the other two branches of government.

  • No, the narrative just changed. Good luck convincing anyone the 2020 election wasn’t stolen ever again.

“I told you. In 2020 we won all 50 states. Voter fraud by the millions. I was saying it all along. But we worked hard, we passed laws for election integrity, we watched the polls and they couldn’t cram their 10, 15 million votes into the boxes again. And look what happened. Instead of winning by 8 million votes, she lost by 6 million votes. Which is what should have happened last time.”

This is the narrative I’ve been hearing. The voters that just stayed home simply never existed in the first place, as far as they’re concerned. He’s going to use this victory as proof of his claim that he should have won last time, voter fraud was rampant, and Democrats are cheaters. And it’s going to work.

  • For those who are saying “Trump can’t do this or can’t do that…”

    Yes. Yes he fucking can.

The American people just voted, in a landslide, in favor of Trump’s agenda. And they voted to send more MAGA people to Congress to help him. They have full control of all 3 branches of government now, with comfortable majorities.

The Supreme Court just said Trump is immune from prosecution for official acts, which they define as “whatever Trump says they are, unless we say otherwise.”

There are no more “moderate” Republicans. Anyone who is not fully on board the Trump train has been weeded out. They are there to rubber stamp Project 2025. And there’s not a single one left who would dare to speak, let alone vote, against him.

This is a “Do what I want and get away with it” administration. Trump will do what he wants. And if it’s not legal, Congress is there to make it legal. And if it’s unconstitutional, the Supreme Court is there to make it Constitutional.

Understand this. There are no guardrails any more. They’ve all been removed. And rather than defend Democracy, the American people just handed them the tools to do it. Trump can do what he wants, will do what he wants, and he’ll do it to the thunderous applause of the American public.

Authoritarianism is here. It’s covered in spray-tan. And it’s going to be sworn in in January.

Remember, Arab-Americans. You refused to vote for Harris because of Gaza. When Israel ratchets up the genocide with Trump’s blessing, remember that you voted for this.

Remember, Latino men who wouldn’t vote for Harris because she’s a woman. When you get caught up in the mass deportations or half of your friends get sent back to their home countries, remember that you voted for this.

Same with the white guys. When you lose that cushy federal job because your answers on a random questionnaire weren’t MAGA enough, remember that you voted for this.

When it’s your daughters bleeding out in a parking lot because of a national abortion ban, remember that you voted for this.

You think you’re strapped for cash now? Trump’s new tariffs are going to cost you on average about $400 a month. You won’t get anything out of it. You’ll just be spending $400 a month on literally nothing because the guy you voted for doesn’t understand how tariffs work. And that doesn’t even count price hikes from the ripple effects of the tariffs and what it will do to the entire supply chain. Hope you’ve got a plan, because again…you fucking voted for this.

And this doesn’t even take into account the fact that Republicans just got finished admitting that they were lying about Project 2025 all along. They know how unpopular it is. They know people see it as a power grab. THEY OPENLY ADMITTED FUCKING LYING TO YOU TO GET THEIR AGENDA PASSED. JD VANCE OPENLY ADMITTED LYING TO VOTERS IN ORDER TO SHAPE THE NARRATIVE. AND YOU STILL VOTED FOR THEM. And they couldn’t even wait 24 hours before taking the masks off and laughing directly in your face. Project 2025 is what we do know about. I’m fearful of what else they’ve been withholding that they plan on doing.

Y’all are about to find out that the most expensive trip in your lives is going to prove to be the trip to the voting booth that you didn’t take. We’ll all be paying for that for decades to come.

  • And do you think there will be a single Republican willing to do anything about it?

Mark my words, they will vote 100% in lockstep every single time. And if what Trump is doing is illegal (like that matters anyway), they’ll just write legislation to make it legal. Not a single one of them is going to even think about criticizing him, out of fear of either violence, political suicide, or both.

The government will be crammed with unqualified hacks from top to bottom. The corruption will be open and blatant.

And every single Republican senator will vote to confirm. Every single time.

RFK in charge of healthcare. Musk in charge of spending. Aileen cannon is either getting the AG job or a Supreme Court seat. Whichever one she doesn’t get, Alina Hobba gets. Steve Bannon gets pardoned and gets communications director. Alex Jones is probably going to crawl out from whatever rock he crawled under too.

They’ll all get jobs. The Senate will confirm them all. And far-right conspiracy theories will become official US policy.

And yet the economy, and people’s fears about it, were the main reason Trump won. Until liberal elites like this guy get it through their thick fucking skulls that how the majority of people FEEL about the economy is INFINITELY more important than what the economic indicators say,

I cannot stress how true this is, and it’s something I’ve been saying for years.

If you are in an election, and your opponent is saying that monkeys are flying out of your ass and terrorizing the city, logic tells you you should ignore his crazy antics and tell him to go back to the park and preach to the pigeons. But here’s the problem. If 51% of the people you need to vote for you believe that monkeys flying out of your ass is their #1 problem, you had better come up with a plan to handle monkeys flying out of your ass. I mean sure, you can try using logic and reasoning to say “Look, there are no flying monkeys coming out of my ass and not a single one has been seen in the city.” But if those 51% really believe in flying monkeys, you’ll be using that logic during your concession speech.

It’s one of those situations where you can do everything right and just lose anyway. Kamala Harris just found that out the hard way.

  • Because people were unwilling to vote for a black woman president. It’s that simple.

    • There are estimates of as many as 15 million former Biden voters who opted to sit this election out, knowing full well that doing so is a de-facto vote for Trump.
    • Latino men, and men in general, voted overwhelmingly for Trump.
    • Abortion issues fared better than Harris in virtually every state where it was on the ballot.
    • Harris underperformed almost universally across the country, to the point where New York, New Jersey, and California were all much closer than they should have been.

This tells me that it wasn’t the policies. People just didn’t want Kamala Harris. Maybe because she’s black. Or Indian. Or a woman. Or a former prosecutor. Or some combination of the above. But whatever the reason was, people felt so strongly about saying “Not Kamala Harris” that they stayed home knowing full well they were de-facto voting for Trump in the process.

Trump didn’t “win” this election, in that he got virtually the same votes he got last time. Kamala Harris lost this election because Democrats sent a very clear message that they are so against Kamala Harris that they were willing to hand the Presidency and the entirety of Congress instead of voting for her. This wasn’t just a loss. This was a “Fuck YOU, in particular” sent right at Harris.

I firmly believe it was a combination of her race and male voters’ unwillingness to vote for a woman under any circumstances.
