  • Subs are ID gated because of laws like the Online Safety Act in the UK. Yes I had to contact my MP about that. The government apparently care more about concerned moms than they do about the opinion of actual technical people or freedom of speech.

  • I am also on CachyOS and KDE here. It was a good find. Seems to be getting more popular and well known over time.

  • KDE suports HDR just fine. I believe both Hyprland and Gnome do as well. Those seem to be the most modern DEs generally speaking. Gnome and KDE being the most popular as well.

Edit: Just realized you said mint specifically. Mint are behind the times sadly.

  • Where do you find stuff on the eDonkey Network?

  • IP over ham radio is a thing, so yes. Wouldn't be very fast mind you.

  • DSM also thought being gay was a mental disorder. Caving to pressure is sometimes a good thing.

  • That's the spirit!

  • Since both support Genocide I don't think it's fair to say it's nazis vs non-nazis. It's more like genocide over there vs genocide maybe here and there. That's assuming that the Republicans will actually go full authoritarian dictatorship which isn't necessarily going to happen. A lot of people are speculating that things will happen that didn't last time Trump was in charge. It definitely could happen, but I don't think it's as likely as people are making out. Trump would have to convince all of the keys to power to abandon democracy, and that hasn't happened yet. He is already getting push back for certain things, not to mention braking up with Elon.

Anyway I sure am glad I don't live in the USA. Although honestly my own country is having its own issues. The supposedly left wing party seem to have decided they have the same level of support for trans people that the right wing one does, or at least their leader is willing to follow the conservatives on that issue. I almost regret voting for him now.

  • They are?

  • Yes. Though it depends on what you want. If you are willing to learn some stuff, and don't mind doing some maintenance, then CachyOS is hard to beat. It's fast, up to date, has packages for basically everything, and the documentation from both them and from arch linux the parent distribution is great. Otherwise Linux Mint, PopOS, Aurora, and OpenSUSE are all good options. I wouldn't recommend using Ubuntu directly anymore because of the enshitification canonical have engaged in. Debian is always good, but might not be what you are looking for in terms of ease of use or being up to date.

  • They also had pretty strict CPU requirements. Mostly only 8th gen and newer, or a ryzen, would be required.

  • What ideas do you have? I hadn't heard the term groundwork before now, and I don't know what this debate is about really. Can you explain?

  • What is groundwork? I haven't heard this term before. Is it things like protesting and voting? Propagnda? Having conversations with everyday people? Or are those something else?
