  • I tried it and in my country they're restricted to 15.5mph so largely did nothing for me as my route is out in the countryside.

I moved to an e-moped (like an electric vespa) and it's been amazing. About £1k to buy, £80 to insure and albeit restricted to 50mile range the equivalent mpg is something like 400mpg.

Naturally doesn't work if you need to carry kids or large objects around routinely but has been great for me

  • Damn good car too. My bro rocked one for years, deceptively large inside. Quarterly he'd drive about 1000km in it which I think was mad but made it work, 80km at a time!!!

  • They'd destroy their car makers so the government bans the competition - simples! :)

  • Por que no los dos

  • Haha, guilty!

They do it on the continent (or at least I've seen it work in Berlin). It seems such an obvious win

  • I'm going to have a wild guess too. I'm going to guess the market is so poor that BTL landlords have just given up trying to get out and are renting. Supply therefore has increased slightly, having a slight decrease in demand and therefore what rent can be asked for

  • Along side this, I can't believe that collectively we don't heat buildings. What's the point of 100 apartments each maintaining an inefficient little boiler rather than a single big efficient boiler for the whole building (or maybe 2 so that there's then contingency)

  • Literally just had to explain to my wife that her friends may be OK visiting as they are white but that it's not a great idea to be travelling to the US.

Regrettably I feel it's the minority in alot of countries that have these moral sensibilities

  • How about Soundcloud? I ended up there and have been happy but knowing my luck someone will tell me that Putin and Netanyahu own it! :)

  • Interesting read, really like their writing style.

I've got one coming and really can't figure out any meaningful benefit to having the WiFi enabled

  • Didn't we (the UK) already bow to the cheeto with our own trade deal?

They have less value than the paper they're written on so I fail to keep track

  • The article's main point is that bookings are down from the year before in the first 4 months of this year.

I'd imagine their reference point to bookings being "the worst they've seen" this summer is last summer.

i.e it was hot as hell last summer yet numbers were better than they are this year

  • That's the sort of decisions being made: do I cancel and lose this money. I don't many could swallow the loss and still went.

My guess is it's a trip most book a year out (ie after returning from their last one) so the decline will be alot more noticeable around October

  • How does this confirm it's an AI image please?

    Not questioning it, just interested

  • I could be wrong but I don't think s/he was being serious

  • How come Lemmy isn't obliged to also?

  • Urgh, the ones that say "well my ice car can do 700 miles on a tank so until EV can do that I'm not doing it" annoy the hell out of me.

I know damn well they're never driven that far without stopping at least once

  • What's madness to me is that people in my country have a holiday to the US booked... and are still going.

My safety is worth more than a few sunk thousand
