Do a little dance, he said.

Get down tonight, he said.

What he didn't say, was an electron has both mass and spin yet has no definite location.

  • Hmm, that's interesting. I can't find that definition for fascism anywhere, but I'm not going to dismiss it just because a few dictionaries don't align perfectly. I'll do some digging and see if I can find the historical context and first-use cases.

I am curious what parts of China are your friends from? I mostly hang out with people from Sichuan, with one friend from a village called Urumqi(I have no idea where that is though). China is a big place, and I wouldn't be surprised if there was a different regard for the government region-to-region.

  • I'mma be honest, if I was living in a country where it was common knowledge that slandering the government in anyway got you disappeared, I'd rate them highly on any study put in front of me :/

I know I'm going to have comments telling me I don't know what I'm talking about, and that's ok. I've enough friends in China, and from China, who have talked about this kind of thing to understand that this graph could represent the feelings of the people, but likely doesn't.

  • That is such a shoddy argument. Communism leads to fascism, we have examples. Socialism leads to fascism, we have examples. Monarchy leads to fascism, we have examples. ALL political schemes can lead to fascism, and it has everything to do with the pursuit of power by a few and very little to do with the system of governance itself. Of course Capitalism can lead to fascism; where ever there is fair compromise to be exploited there will be an opportunity for fascism.

Also, I didn't see any other replies to my comment. Unless you think I'm going to stalk the person I replied to and nag them to reply to me directly, I don't think that counts :/

  • So liberals are nazis now? I'll pen that in under alt-right nationalists, republicans, conservatives in general, democrats...

Like seriously, we are seriously watering down the word Nazi by just labeling everyone we don't like as a racist supporter of fascism. Besides, how can every blue state and blue city be riddled with Nazis if they are the one's constantly complaining that our government is devolving into an authoritarian state? RIDDLE ME!!

  • What is this correction? What are you trying to correct?

  • I can't tell if your question is a poorly veiled critique of my comment, or if you genuinely don't see the presentation of data in the post. The image literally has a grouping of data points conveying a narrative; that's statistics. A collection of quantitative data. Just because its bad statistics doesn't mean it isn't.

  • This isn't an "evil commie" meme, dude. 1 : Russian isn't communist. 2 : This is just poorly thought out political commentary 3 : Communism isn't evil, capitalism sucks, and so do your memes.

  • There is so much context missing here it is crazy. This is such a shameless use of manipulative statistics, it would only convince the dumbest of people of its argument.

  • I feel like I covered my bases with the rest of my comment there. If you have thousands of photos that you want to share, host them on your server and whitelist the people you want to see them :/

IRL I've never sent nor received more than a handful of pics at a time, and always through email. It would have never occurred to me that people are out there sending the whole family collection to each other digitally. Grandma hordes those pics for a reason; as leverage for people to visit her!

  • This guy didn't want to do the leg work of emailing his photos to his friends, and declares self-hosting isn't the solution to a social net? I totally see the point in community hosting, in fact I'm all for that.

But really? You don't have to make your servers public facing, you just white-list the people you want to see your stuff and make sure to organize your drives with public and private pages.

He went through all that and didn't take it far enough.

  • Slt, d'acc boomer

Guess you've never seen people text in french.

    mdr A+

  • Yeah, and Psyche means soul, and is a greek word. If you're going to be pedantic about language then at least be as correct as you can be.

I wouldn't say her soul or animating spirit has been tricked here— that would make no sense. "Sike" is a word now, and it has a very specific and narrow meaning. Just like Psyche now means something totally different that it originally did. Language EVOLVES.

  • I'd like that.

  • Throughout history, like 99% successful rebellion against authoritarianism has been violent.

    Source: Historian.

The only successful non-violent over-throwing of an authoritarian occupation either had the leverage of violence, or brought attention to the issue by those who used violence :/

  • Are you really using the same arguments as big coal?

"You, the consumer, are the problem. Not us, no", like consumers are killing the chocolate farmers. No, the people killing the chocolate farmers are killing the chocolate farmers. If you drive a car in the USA, you aren't responsible for the 100 million tons of CO2 pumped into the atmosphere, or the millions of gallons of crude oil spilled into the ocean— companies like Exon and Shell are. You merely live in a country where automobile companies lobbied hard for cities to be built dependent on cars.

You had no say in that, just like you have no say in what produce is at your supermarket, or what baby formula, or what your kids favorite drink is going to be.

That's like saying, "if you eat bannanas you endorse the murder and rape of south americans and the colonization of hawaii". Shits just not true.

  • I think someone else already posted the information above about hosting your own account on a private server, so I won't double dip there. But yeah, you totally could host your own server with accounts :)

  • Well ain't that a sweeping generalization. Almost like it can't possibly be true...

  • Bluesky is built on an open, decentralized protocol. There are appications that allow the AT protocol to federate with Mastodon, even. So yeah, move to Bluesky. Its not like Mastodon isn't also a private company.

Literally anyone could build apps on top of the AT protocol to create a parallel Fediverse to the ActivityPub protocol Fediverse. Best case scenario is we fold them in.
