I'm just some geek.

  • It will also put you in trouble with law enforcement.

  • The cane is there to detect obstacles. They are used to it hitting things, it's part of their life.

You don't have to feel bad about it even though it is something you should try to avoid. It's hard to see that cane when it is poking out in front of the person all the way at the ground if you turn around or things like that.

If I had to guess you both apologized when it happened, and both of you should be able to walk away satisfied after a random friendly interaction like that.

  • Well, it isn't called "medium". If I saw someone asking for the medium, I would assume that they mean "the median" instead.

The median is the number that is right in the middle of the distribution, so if you have the data points: 1, 1, 1, 3, 14, 80, and 141, the median is 3.

The mean/average is what you get if you add all the numbers together and divide that by the number of data points. For the above example the sum is 241, and divided by 7 that is approximately 34.3 .

The mode that @Aussiemandeus mentions is the number that appears the most times, so that is 1.

  • If you get the chance, thank them for doing it. I don't have money to spare, but I really enjoy their science channels on YouTube.

  • English is a tertiary language for me. I would say "too", but I don't know if you moved to an English speaking country later in life so it is a secondary language for you. I have lived in Denmark my entire life.

  • Median, not *mean/average.

  • Yes, it is speculative. That is what it means when a sentence starts with "I bet".

  • I bet that the US gets a lot of intel about the other countries in the region in return.

  • And it is pretty much guaranteed to be bullshit. If they shut a politician out due to social democratic opinions, they would be shooting themselves in the foot. So many users would leave the platform. That isn't in Metas interest.

If they want to control the narrative they have to keep people on the site, and they could just show the content that they don't like to fewer of the users.

  • Yeah, I'm rather confident that bots are rampant on here. All the wrong news sites are constantly the ones that are upvoted the most. The bots don't care who you hate, just that you hate. It doesn't matter if it is leaders, minorities, businesses, other nations, or whatever.

The bots agenda is to make it harder for people to work together in unison. Create disruptions and lower the operational efficiency of other nations.

  • Why would we? If someone wants to visit from the US and spend their money here instead of at home, I'll let them.

  • I bet this is going to be read in the crime statistics.

  • This is the mechanism and economic base structure of “democracy” in the west which prevents real progress and real change from happening to the structures and systems we have.

As a Dane I'm quite happy with the system and politicians we have here. What I see as the issue is when different untruthful and overly emotional media start getting a foothold, and the people don't punish politicians for lying. It is literally "Idiocracy" in the making.

  • He is the author of "The Art of the Deal"...

He will draw a deal that isn't implemented with his sharpie.

  • As long as I can disable it, I don't care.

I don't trust AI to catch all the things that interest me on the pages I visit, and I don't want to waste energy on something I won't use.

It should be disabled by default, to avoid the huge energy costs associated with running LLM's.

  • Dane here, and I'm pretty much in the same boat. I get my news on news websites though, not social media - and especially not from partisan sources like Joe Rogan. I want neutral sources that only report the facts, no opinions.
