  • Man, I know Elex is not as well known and received as Gothic but it still is my favorite open world game ever. There is just something about the mixture of science fiction, high fantasy and post apocalypse Mad Max style that made me fall in love with the game. In the beginning the big monsters in this world are fucking strong and beat my ass every time. I loved it and it is incredibly rewarding to get stronger and then fuck those bastards up - just to get mauled by the next even stronger monster/robot. One of the very few open world games where I actually explored every nook and cranny! You will be missed Piranha Bytes!

  • I played (still in the middle of KCD) both games on the Switch. Both do work good for what they are: ports who definitely punch above their weight!

I played KCD on the PS4 when it came out and I can tell that there are some compromises, like less details in the distance and choppy animations when a person is walking far away from me and framerate dips in crowded places.

Aside from some stuff like I mentioned above, the port is great and I was really surprised how well everything looks. If you want to play the absolute best looking version of the game you already have it for your pc anyway but if you ever want to have the most flexible version this is definitely a great port of a great game!

  • As much as I like to shit on Reddit, Twitter is, in my opinion, still way worse. Way, way worse! I follow exclusively left leaning accounts and a couple of game developers on Twitter, yet my ‘for you’ tab has increasingly more right wing bullshit thrown my way. And I actively block stupid Nazi shit. Still, the Twitter algorithm thinks I might be interested in some local assholes who say openly racist and bigoted stuff.

Reddit was never toxic in recent years

Nah dude, you can’t be serious. It obviously varies between the communities and the bubble you created for yourself on Reddit. But even in the smaller somewhat niche subs I frequented had people acting toxic and hostile. And it became more and more in recent years. And I am definitely not talking about all the manospehre, incel and cringe subs. Those are on a whole other level of toxic and at least as bad as similar algorithmic bubbles on Twitter.

There is also toxicity on Lemmy, too. But you can just manage what you consume so much better. Never encountered Hexbear stuff outside of drama posts for example.

  • Kingdoms of Amalur is pretty decent! Not very complex in the RPG department but a big high fantasy world to explore. The combat is very action oriented and you can play a lot of different builds. Pretty satisfying, too! The game is a bit older (ten years or so) but got a re-release two years ago. So, the graphics are a bit dated but not ugly. The art style saves it imo. I enjoyed it a lot when I played it last year!
