Hi, I'm also Terencio on mastodon.social and Sergio on slrpnk.net. I mostly use this account when there are issues on slrpnk.net.

  • yes, as evidenced by the dent in the seated guy's cane.

  • They are "journalism vegans". They are choosing to abstain from actual journalism for clickbaiting, herd mentality, and personal lack of skill reasons.

  • How the mod ruled:

    Great choice!

  • I dunno fam, I wouldn't mess with someone else's tool box without their permission, no matter what our relationship...

  • The sad thing is, 30 seconds with an image editor would have fixed that. But apparently that would be too much work.

  • nah, I like this kind of conversation. back on r$ditt this whole thread woulda been just deleted.

  • That's fine that you think so. Humor's subjective. tbh I was struggling to explain why I liked this particular strip, because humor is hard to explain. And sometimes this cartoonist's humor doesn't do it for me either. I think that's part of why humor is so valuable, bc of its subjectivity and fragility.

  • If you don't think it's funny that's OK. I'm just gonna explain why I think it's hilarious.

See, the gag of "an omniscient god hanging out with you" could be done in a single panel. Maybe the second panel, slightly modified, maybe it shows the boy and the girl standing next to a broken vase or something. But this comic extends it another couple panels. You see the crying kid and the smug girl. You see the kid with a freakin dunce cap on and the two other kids (with the god) looking at him. You see that their life really is worse because of this. The smug expression and the dunce cap are secondary gags, the real joke is that the stirp's saying: see? it really is bad. See this? See this?

I think it's pretty funny, but if you don't agree that makes sense too.

  • a couple thoughts:

    • I usually have a section called "Relevant Work" and another called "Other" where I say "Additional experience with [list my non-relevant jobs]"
    • if you are taking time off from working, try to do something educational at the same time. classwork at a local university / community college is great, or do online classes or even a bunch of tutorials and/or an open-source/volunteer project. then you can say: "I always wanted to learn about (that topic) so I took some time off to really study it." it's most beneificial if it's work-related, but it doesn't have to be.
    • present yourself in the best light, but do not outright lie on your resume because that might come back to bite you.
  • very interesting... apparently the web UI automatically made it a link... I think that's a "feature" for some reason.
