Are the user levels an actual defined thing and are there more?
I think the “largely” only refers to the homogeneous part. I hope it does
Well aren’t you a kind soul
I’ve read something along the lines of it being because silver is a “noble metal” (or something like that) and vampires are unholy/foul creatures, somehow making them not be reflected by silver mirrors
I think open signups allow people to create an account without verification like email. I’m not sure about captchas, those might also count as a kind of verification.
A byte in this context always means 8 bit though, it has nothing to do with powers of 10 or 2. The prefix of K (kilo), M (mega), G (giga) or Ki (kibi), Mi (mebi), Gi (gibi) doesn’t change the meaning of “byte”.
I recon aurora store should still work since it’s providing the playstore stuff, just a bit more privacy friendly afaik.
Why would everything posted in this comment section have to do with the post, especially if it’s a response to another comment instead of directly to the post?
Thanks, I think this was removed some time ago from what U remember reading. I’ll have to check that again though.
(I should really check my accounts inbox more often ^^')
How does the UI size work out for you? I recently took a look at it on a windows pc and the tiny size of most things is the one problem I have with it. Then again, I read something about being able to scale different programs individually somewhere (not for windows though)
Billion or million? :P
I was about to say that I’d prefer alien overlords but based on Superman’s origin, he’s got my vote
Hm, I’m counting 35 days
I’ve seen some people talking about how the lemmy developers are planning for the ability to “group” communities (of the same name or something like that) on different instances together.
I’m taking this as those communities then forming one community that doesn’t have to rely on a single instance’s community to “survive”.
Haven’t put too much thought into this but I think that would at least lessen that problem, especially for new niche subjects popping up. The difficulty for existing niche communities starting anew here will probably remain but I’m hopeful for the future.

“Do you think this story is true, or do you think that our writers just made it all up? Let’s take a look at our next story first.”
Kinda reminds me of this mystery show I can’t recall the name of :))
I’d love to see a book or even just a “small” web series though. You probably amassed quite some experience on how to write characters to make them feel close to reality.
Not surprising considering what it is. I’ve seen people claim that the API is quite bad, to say it nicely. Can’t imagine the app’s code to be much better :)
I think it can also give it a different signature, right? A unique app for everyone sounds like fun :D
I don’t think you have to worry about that since user’s data should be stored on the instance they registered on, which means that data should only be stored on those servers (I don’t think that kind of data would be federated, correct me if I’m wrong).
So unless someone were to restart those servers with the same domain name and the data intact, it shouldn’t happen.
That obviously means that god is a woman, right?
