  • Tbf, they look so close to each other, i'd went for Mario and Luigi. Wario is quite different from Mario.

  • I'm not familiar with the matter, but from the little i've learned of the article, it seems the general have just disappeared, right?

If it was corruption matters, that would be official, as it would be a good reason for a trial.

  • I found the info on this article first, and it did seemed fishy at first, especially with the photo that kinda looks like AI at a glance

But there is actually a lot of media coverage about it, at least from the main francophone news sources.

To answer your questions, it seemed the ship was going back to europe after that. One fact that can help explain it all was that, as people from the attacked ship claim, the coast guard are mercenaries and not members of official police force or anything.

  • If i'm not mistaken, the very last graph showing posts by month shows a significant decreasing over the summer, or at least specifically july (since august is not over yet). It says June is around 12M posts and July around 9M. August seems already over 9M and we're only 2/3 in, so maybe there was some drop around July for some reason, which could explain OP's feeling.

As for the reason, i'm not sure, maybe a combination of factors like some server blocking access from UK with the latest privacy bullshit, some server having signficant downtime (i think slrpnk.net had a problem with servers locking themselves up while tech admin was abroad), and maybe non-Lemmy factors like holidays (though they don't seem to impact previous years stats).

  • From what i learned from french investigation media Mediapart, it included slapping, strangling, being asked to hit someone else, among other humiliations.

  • From what i get from English wikipedia, it's mainly preparing curricula for basic and secondary education, participating in the education field's regulations, and acting as a central organizer for administrative things relating to education.

  • Indeed surprising for me, the trick being that it's not 18 when considering "marriage with parents and judicial approval", which are probably pretty rare but definitely possible in way more countries than i would have bet

  • It makes sense for me too, and i like your cheat code version of it. I think it's also akin to the tutorial hell for devs and artists.

  • Happens to me all the time, but with the swipe left/right from the border of the screen. I understand that reloading when selecting a community or feed can be wanted by user, since AFAIK there is no other option to reload the feed you're currently in. I just wish the navigation principle of swiping left/right from the border of the screen could work in the communities list to bring you back to the previous feed. Altough, tbf, if there's a post i want to read, i save it, and if i didnt have the time, i can remember which post it was and find it again.

  • China too it seems, from what the comment says

  • I've heard that SSD have a relatively limited number of write cycles, and that wiping/compacting data can even be a slightly bad thing in this regard. I am not sure at all if this is true though, don't take my word for it and correct me if i'm wrong.

  • Doesn't have AppImages the same problem than Flatpak regarding dependencies duplicated for each program ? If so, what is their advantage over Flatpak ?

  • Okay, my mistake, i misinterpreted it. To be fair with BBC, they point out in the title and article that this is just some transcript of someone anonymous, and they try to tie each allegation with reports from other sources to back up their likeliness. I guess it's the best you can do with someone anonymous ? Revealing the company, dates, or town might compromise the anonymity. I have this low-key uncomfortable feeling of "well, there's nothing that proves it" with most anonymous reports i read or hear, even when it's for events that are common otherwise.

  • There are also reports by companies and american judiciary system. Now, those are biased voices too, they lack clear proof of what happened, and they probably make it bigger than it is, but i find it unlikely that this is 100% bs and staging : if i had that much resources to pour into staging something, i think it would be more convincing.

  • It does not seem like a bot to me, what makes you think of it ? And even if it was a bot, what makes you say that it is "cosplaying as an Arab" ?

  • Seems like a nice game, and i like that it's a "censorship deal" after the anti-NSFW itch.io had to make

The reviews say it may be glitchy and people seem very divided with wether they like it or not. Some piece of advice you may want to have before trying it : it seems its better not to start with Malik.

  • Well, it may depends on the style you're going for.

If this is pixel art, which i found relatively easy when having no big artistic background, i can recommend those youtube channels : AdamCYounis, Brandon James Greer, and Pixel Pete. I also hugely recommend the series of mini-tutorial over here, it's pixel art tutorial all in pixel art, and it's amazing.

If you're looking for other styles, i don't have ressources to learn. People already recommended Gimp and Inkscape (and Blender, you can do a bit of 2D in there as well, though it may not be the most comfortable way). I'd also add Krita, which is more meant for traditional drawing. It works way better with a graphics tablet though, but even a cheap one does the trick.

  • Is that a pick-up line? Can we flirt on lemmy?

  • Oh yeah, the famous "if you fight evil, you cannot be evil"
