You make a good point. I haven’t gone back to minecraft because I know there’s going to be more changes made in the imminent future, and I’d rather play a complete game. I picked up Stardew about a month before the Ginger Island update, so it really felt like a complete experience.

I don’t think it will ever fizzle out. It’s an amazing game with a simple premise.
I do worry that the desire to not let a game be done could lead to burnout from the audience though. I left minecraft behind because every update added less and less of substance, and asked me to come back and do something that didn’t really enhance the experience of my “completed” survival world.
I understand that minecraft has not slipped in popularity for the masses, but for me it’s enough of a pain that I don’t play any more.
Stardew Valley is great, and the updates we have received add a lot of content to the game, but it’s all stuff that makes an 11/10 game… still an 11/10. I would love the effort to go into Haunted Chocolatier, or other great projects.
If I make plans for a holiday, put down deposits on hotels, and print an itinerary for my time abroad, it’d be a bit pointless to “admit” I was going on holiday.

The Democrats abandoned their base today. Harris did not intend to turn out for the party at her own College. Key members began to leave before the final numbers were called. No speech. No words of comfort or support for the 50-ish percent of voters that tried to push back against fascism.
It really feels like Harris was only speaking for the people as long as she was winning, and when the tide turned she fucked off. It supports the narrative of ‘vote for me or else’.
This does not build trust in the party, and if the world ever sees another US presidential election, I hope people remember how they have been treated.

The guy walks into a historical building, and upon seeing some art, his first response is “I wonder what that art is about, maybe my followers can tell me”. This is the guy who is creating historical images of the city? The guy who only learnt recently that large ships were not historically seen in the harbour? I’ll admit my knowledge of Amsterdam is lacking, but I’m not trying to pass AI slop off as historically accurate representations of the past.

I live in a democracy. Voting is compulsory. Some people will take the monetary fine and abstain, but for many it encourages them to at the very least become informed about the policies of each party on the big ticket issues. It’s not perfect but it means everybody has a say.
Your democracy allows one party to use the strategy of “erode confidence in the very political system we are a part of” to convince people that not taking part in their freedom is a smart choice.

The US is First Past The Post. Whoever has the most votes wins, even if they do not have a majority of the vote. Splitting the votes of one party, or abstaining from voting only gives more power to the opposition. It is an absolutely shit system, and election reform needs to happen, but it’s what you have to deal with now, and being ignorant of how it works is going to hurt everyone.
Hypothetically there are 100 people voting between the “stubbing your toe” party and the “hot poker jammed in your urethra” party. The urethra party runs a campaign about how horrible stubbing your toe feels, and gets 40 votes. The Toe Party runs on a platform of “the choice is obvious” and gets 35. A small subset of Toe-ers break off and run their own “hitting your funnybone” party because they don’t like feet and get 10 votes. The remaining 15 voters really do NOT want to have their pissholes sealed shut by a piece of red hot iron. But at the same time, stubbing your toe or hitting your funnybone really hurts as well. They equate “pain” as an absolute value, deem both sides equal and abstain from voting.
The number of people who do not want a blistered pisser outnumber the opposition 60/40. But in the end, the numbers come out; Funnybone : 10 Toe : 35 Urethra : 40 The next day, everyone is lined up to get their pissholes branded.
Are you telling me that the abstainers hold no responsibility in the hurt that is bestowed upon the whole group? Or that Funnybone can blame Toe for not marketing themselves better?
You can’t vote against Trump, you are correct on that point, but abstaining from the vote reduces the numbers of literally the only other option.
