  • Anybody serious already knew carbon capture is not a solution. Reducing CO2 and electrifying with clean power is always cheaper than generating a lot more additional power for capturing CO2. It's how the physics work out. It could've worked for cleaning up afterwards when all the rest was already clean and green.

  • You're expressing the same sentiment as many billionaires these days. It's also called accelerationism. Rush to get society in the gutter and then be the guiding hand to help them up.

  • That was the first thing people predicted. USA tariffs go up and trade from the rest of the world will reroute passed the USA. It'll take some time to set it all up but the longer the tariffs stay the more permanent the new trade routes become.

  • Trump never did care about the law.

  • So he's already killing that trade agreement he made to give the EU lower tariffs. That was to be expected.

  • It really feels like a "biggest grift so far" moment and they're just desperate for a new hype to suck ungodly amounts of money into. Quantum computing, biotech or whatever they come up with.

  • Blame falls on Europe as Ukraine peace effort languishes not surrendering.

FTFY. And yeah, that's the whole idea of what Europe is doing.

  • One more reason for tourists to stay away I guess.

  • At 1.6 meter for the metric minded. If you really stretch out and can hit the tv with your toes it's about the right distance.

  • checks dictionary

    He means surrender or fight.

  • Are there real concerns? Yes, some.

And a lot of those concerns will get worse by poverty and inequality but the right wing policies usually make that worse while blame it on the migrants. Rinse and repeat.

  • That's what's being reported. Tourisme to USA is down with 8% and everywhere else in the world it's going up. Europe is breaking records this year.

Then you have conferences and conventions that moved out of the USA. Lots of anecdotes of an empty Vegas strip, guides in cities cutting back, airports not that busy anymore, etc in part because Americans can afford less, places for greedy/private equity and foreigners staying away more.

And next year might be worse.

  • The most likely is for America to attack Mexico, Panama or a few other countries, not them taking the fight to the USA. But it does fit in the strategy of make everyone scared of every country in the South. Scared people don't vote rationally.

  • Large corpos might set up fulfilment centers in USA and do bulk import. Small companies will just stop export to USA. Setting up manufacturing in USA is unlikely with all the volatility.

  • Netflix appeared, piracy dropped. And when the movie streaming market fragmented, piracy shot up. Like they say, it's a service problem.

  • The private operators for packages still work, but then you'll often pay a lot more for shipping than the actual product. Large corpos are looking to set up warehouses with bulk import and local fulfilment centers. Small businesses are out of luck. And with the rules changing all the time nobody wants to bet on setting up local production. Christmas this year is going to be really expensive in the USA.

  • And the uncertainty in the meantime will drive away even more manufacturing and suppliers.

  • Idea

Lab tech <- the article is here

    Prototype

    Mass production

So, the usual Battery Tuesday message.

  • Next step is to put down prop buildings so he can say in camera how great things are going.
