Oh no. Did you say ND? 👀

They really need to talk to Mary!
I’m looking for one that allows handwriting to text, if anyone knows of one.
I think you’re talking about “at-will” employment, which allows the employer or employee to terminate employment for no reason at any time. Only Montana doesn’t have that (unfortunately for the rest of us), and employers must show good cause for termination after a set probationary period. “Right-to-work” means that you can’t be required to join a union or pay fair share fees as a requirement of employment. 26 states have this on the books.
I live in a state with both laws, and it sucks as much as you’d imagine… (mainly because it’s fairly indicative of other issues throughout the state).
They mention that in the article, in passing. “WIRED, for context, lists 164 partners.”
I recommend Pati Jinich’s recipes for anything she makes. She has both a flour and a corn tortilla recipe.
It’s a bit of a confusing history. The AT Protocol for decentralization was a side project of Twitter that later spun off, grew, and became Bluesky.
Before starting my own personal one, I used ones run by @Stux, mstdn.social and masto.ai. He has another one that’s based around coffee lovers, too: mastodon.coffee. They’re pretty laid back servers!
We switched to Duo, too. Making that plan unlimited was the las barrier to my spouse jumping aboard the Kagi train. We’re in for the yearly Duo sub as of this evening!
I thought it was going okay: I got 6 hours of sleep (unheard of!), I woke up on time, and work was moving along smoothly. But then… my cat got sick and a not-beloved coworker decided to be annoying, so I hit a snag for a while there. I’m back at it again, having survived the issue with my cat AND the co-irker, and the day is starting to look up again. Here’s hoping that the trend continues up tomorrow…
I like Liftoff enough that I’ve stopped looking at every new thing that is coming out.
I’m currently preferring either the mobile web or Liftoff. Liftoff has really surprised me with how slick and easy it’s been to jump onto. I still have Jerboa on my phone to see how it progresses over time.
Beeple!
I’ve been using StoryGraph since it came around and really enjoy it. I’ve looked at BookWyrm, but I haven’t considered switching yet.
The article mentions the WaPo connection to Amazon and its board, as they should, but I’m surprised to see this particular topic there, too.
This particular paragraph is disingenuous in its characterization of what’s going on with Reddit, though:
There was also a concern that any major changes to the platform could scare people away. One former employee compared Goodreads to Reddit, an 18-year-old internet forum where users are revolting because of modifications to the site. “People feel like they can’t anger the community,” the former employee said.
Archeologist or astronaut! I ended up being a librarian 😁
The Artisan’s Coop is building itself right now. Only time will tell how successful it will be, but they’re taking their time to try to build a useful and real cooperative.
It also isn’t that Mastodon is necessarily a replacement for Twitter (or Lemmy for reddit). I use these communities vastly differently than I did those two places: I am much more involved and feel like an actual part of my curated communities. I’m not a lurker or a pair of potential eyes to be advertised at.
The ways that our Fediverse options are different are myriad and immensely important in a way that most outside observers don’t get. These aren’t “just replacements” at all; they’re communities—and upgraded ones at that.
Just a few tweaks, because you’ve done so much of the work that I needed already. (I think the hardest part of re-theming is picking colors that work well, and you did that to perfection.)
One of the reasons I find theming colors so difficult is that I have color determination deficiencies (not full color blindness). One reason I love my web services job is that my organization has a marketing team to determine the colors, so I can do my CSS theming for our products based off the pre-determined hex codes. :D
Most often not even taking the things that made the plundered product great in the first place, unfortunately.
They’ll have non-member options for sellers once it’s out of beta, too. Supporter members can also sell (lower buy-in cost), but the Coop commission is higher (not as high as non-member will be).
I’ve purchased several things there, and I’ve loved everything. (I’m not an artisan or crafter, just a buyer of art and craft.)
