  • Gavin should absolutely keep trolling trump.

He should not be nominated for president.

  • I think it's annoying, but im not sure if there's a clear solution. Id say this type of one sided block is similar to ghost bans and feels just as abusive.

I cant imagine it's very pleasant on their side either, since it would feel as if everyone from grad or ml were giving you the cold shoulder and make the fediverse feel dead.

The nature of the fediverse is open though - escalating this to another ban/block or banning the custom fork would be counterproductive, imo. If thats their preferred way to curate content, I guess thats their prerogative

  • Well at least this means there's a 50% chance I won't need the retirement savings that Im not going to have

  • GEE I WONDER WHY THEY'RE BECOMING SO UNPOPULAR

  • The NCY dems may have nominated him, but the national party has been absolutely lothe to accept him.

Instead of backing their candidate, democrats have been undermining Mamdani with accusations of antisemitism.

Hell, because of the success of Mamdani, the Minneapolis dems just rescinded their nomination for Fateh over some bullshit procedural objections and now they dont even have a candidate on the ticket.

Their fingerprints are all over this.

  • Can't wait for democratic leadership to condemn Cuomo and endorse their nominee

  • Because they lack class consciousness, because they don't believe in the embodied power of capital as being distinct from the power of organized government.

The first step in any socialist movement is agitative propaganda to engender a sense of class consciousness.

  • Individuals give up their personal wealth every day for a variety of reasons, but the capitalist class writ large has never once been abolished or ceded power to the working class without explicit or implicit threat of violence.

But even then, a single person using their immense fortune to create a social benefit system is still a threat of violence against capital, and can be used to extract concessions from the capital class. Maybe you're thinking of violence as physical, but I'm using it to mean any great force capable of compelling action.

  • I agree that spending boatloads of money on propaganda is an effective way of dictating the terms of an election.

It's possible that you just don't agree that capital owners have more money and influence than the rest of the country by orders of magnitude, and that somehow if we just yell really really loudly that we can overcome that immense power differential.

  • "Abolish the capital class" is not an option on any democratic ballot i've ever seen.

  • Again, have you tried?

Every fuckin day, bud. It has quite literally never happened without it.

    Yes, quite sure

Those are billion-dollar psyop campaigns run by the largest and most well-funded intelligence agencies in the world.

  • We need rate limiting for user comments, Jesus christ

  • Why not?

Because capital will never cede power without a threat of violence (implicit or otherwise).

China and Russia [...] did it all for PENNIES

  • Step 1: Engender class consciousness in the american working class <--- You are here

    Step 2: Organize

    Step 3: Demonstrate

Step 4: Continue escalating until the capital class is forced to negotiate

Notice that 'vote' does not appear on this list.

  • It's not a voter problem, it's a capitalism problem.

In a capitalist democracy, it's capital that sets the rules for governance, not the other way around. You can have a social democracy, but you can't undo capital in a capitalist democracy by voting.

  • The one that they keep spending billions of dollars every year to influence

Which is why voting cannot overcome capital. I'm not saying voting is pointless, only that voting has been made to be incapable of undoing the power that has accumulated under capital.

The master's tools will never dismantle the master's house.

  • I'm suggesting we abolish the capital class.

  • There is no electoral system that can overcome a sufficiently organized and motivated capital class.

  • I'd start watching the MCU again if there was a she-shrimp superhero with pistol-shrimp powers

  • politics @lemmy.world
