  • Not at all. You said being alone in a forest with a man is more dangerous than a bear, and I said that’s statistically nonsense.

Just because I wrote more than 2 sentences, doesn’t make that a gish gallop.

    There are 2 premises:

    1. Bears are dangerous (I agree)
    2. A random man in a forest is more dangerous to a woman than that bear (I strongly disagree)

I showed my numbers for that 1 argument and that’s it. I’m happy to be proven wrong, if you have anything more than “it just is”.

I’m not defensive I find this comparison to be simply ridiculous.

  • Which would be?

It’s nonsense. Out of 100 bear encounters about 1 turns violent. Now, how many men does the average women come in contact to daily and how many of them turn violent? I’m pretty sure the numbers are much, much lower than that for a bear encounter.

My Wife walked passed approximately 1’000 just today. No one even talked to her in a weird way. This whole argument is just fear mongering with sociallly acceptable sexism. This doesn’t solve any problems.

Also, statistically, strangers are the last people tk worry about. The overwhelming majority of abuse victims know their abuser or are even related. You should be more afraid to see uncle Frank and aunt Jenny in the woods than any random man.

  • OpenAI allows you to signup with your Google Account. Last Time I checked there was no requirement to provide a phone number for that. But even if, what the hell is so special about your phone? If you still use MFA over Text, you shouldn’t be worried about some random company having your phone number, but rather about why you use the weakest form of MFA in the first place.

Also, just by someone knowing your phone number, you don’t compromise your phone number. If that’s the case, better get a new one and make sure none of the people you ever give it to use Whatsapp or anything of that sort or your number will be in someone’s database at some point. Don’t ever call anyone with that number as they will have acces to it afterwards (and no, just disabling Caller ID doesn’t necessarily work to prevent this).

I’m not sure what kind of paranoia you’re suffering from, but dude, touch some grass. Nothing of what you said makes any technical sense.

  • Capitalism isn’t the problem here, it’s unregulated capitalism that doesn’t work.

Also, you can dislike it but so far, capitalism tampered with socialism, is the best system we have so far. The best Countries in terms of human happines and opportunities (think the Scandinavian states especially and most of central europe generally) are capitalist democracies. We however realised, unlike the US, that you can’t just let corporation do anything they wan and that the state has an obligation to provide services and help to it’s people.

This anti-capitalist sentiment os so common and not really founded in reality that it feels like a mere buzz word at this point.

  • No and I never liked it. I tried going to the gym for a while to lose weight but I felt horrible afterwards and during the excersice and the actual Impact on my obesity was quite minimal (probably my fault as I‘m sure I didn’t do everything right). So i stoped going eventually. I know started walking more, I don’t take the bus from the train station home anymore and rather walk the 3.5km with some nice podcast oj my ears. I like doing it, even atvthe current temperatures as I feel like a get 45 minutes just for me where I don’t have to listen to anyone or anything other than my podcasts I enjoy. I work ij Retail so there’s a constant barrage of people and at the end of the day you just don’t want to see people for a while. So while it does help my weight loss it also just feels kinda therapeutic in a way. I just crossed 120kg (down from 136) this morning and plan to try to extend my walks to my days of as well :-)

  • I mean in the end it’s a server somewhere like any other website. If your decide to block all traffic that goes to that site, yiu blocked it. The thing with lemmy is just that it’s decentralized and technically you could just another instance and acces the cache and interact ther from what I understand.

So if if China works with a Blocklist and not an Allowlist, instances might go up faster than they can block them?

  • I haven’t used to much lately hut on OpenAIs website you can flag bad response and provide feedback. GPT is still improving and probably trying to stay on the side of caution. This is an unintended consequences of a caution filter around removing and any ethnicity that usually comes up when we talk about discrimination (I wouldn’t be surprised if you asked it to strip countries under islamic theocracy from the list. You might be worried about your safety, GPT sees it as a potential bigotry against islam and blocks it)
