  • It has been owned by a data mining company for a number of years.

  • There's no direct replacement. The features I use are in Pear launcher so I use that. You have to look through launcher comparisons to find the features you need.

Also, I'm surprised purple are still using Nova. I thought most people abandoned it after it got sold.

  • I've never watched Dexter. What would you recommend I watch if I want to start? Just resurrection? Early seasons first (till before it became garbage)? When did it become garbage?

  • I've gone back to my 4th play through of Hollow Knight before starting Silksong. There are very few things in the world that will deeply affect your life, so don't let over hype ruin a good thing......that being said, this is easily one of my top 3 games and I'm not one to replay single player games, yet here I am.

  • Half the population of the UK tomorrow: charging into the bosses office saying "hey, dick head, I want a raise".

  • "Sit near me"

    "Fuck you"

  • Path of Exile? Dat you?

    • OpenSUSE Tumbleweed

Rock solid for a rolling release. Roll back in case of problems. This was such a great beginner distro that finally got me hooked on Linux permanently.

  • Can't watch anything for 18 hours. The majority would be a new TV series (Murder Bot or Sandman or Foundation).

There would be a mix of movies thrown in. But the majority of the time would be spent on podcasts, video games and music.

  • I haven't federated my server. I would freak out.

  • I'm using my extra hard drives for CP too!

  • Don't know what Steam is going to do, but most sites don't do age verification themselves. They have a 3rd party company that takes your card details and verifies your age.

  • It will never be "end of life". There are retro consoles that people are buying just for running SNES or GameBoy Advance games. Even those are perfectly functional for their purpose. Even if the Steam Deck got hard locked to only run games released up till 2025, it will still have enduring value. EoL can mean the battery is too degraded, but the battery is replaceable.

A "soft EoL" will realistically come when much much faster hardware is cheaper, the Steam Deck is out of production and it starts struggling to play even indie games. At this point, buying a secondhand Deck for £100 is still going to be a bargain and get recommended for emulators, retro gamers and patient gamers.

  • The story had real potential and never really sunk its teeth into any one aspect. Being accepted for what you are, your duty to the people, the social media rat race, the romance with a demon to collude against evil, a message to be constructive rather than demeaning........ so many meaningful avenues that they just glance towards and don't commit fully to any one.

The music honestly has a bunch of banger tunes.......if you can get over the crazy amount of overuse of autotune.

  • I never played this all the way through. I've just gotten it ony PS2 emulator. Looking forward to it.

  • Things for you to decide:

Which desktop environment do you want (KDE, Gnome, Cinnamon, cosmic, etc)

Do you want it to be super up to date all the time? Or are you OK with slower updates for a more stable system?

Difficulty: How hard do you want things to be? Do you want things to be set up and lots of solutions online? Or are you willing to dive deep, do stuff yourself and figure stuff out?

I started with OpenSUSE Tumbleweed and loved it. Highly recommended. I didn't know about TuxedoOS at the time and that seems like a good place to start too. Noe I know more and am on CachyOS and am super happy with it.

  • I never replay games (except for roguelites which are obviously intended to be played repeatedly); but I've replayed Hollow Knight twice and it's been pure joy each time.
