I know the pain. Doing the same at instance level :P
Someome did try to restart it at lemmy.basedcount.com but they were nonserious about running an instance and you can guess by the instance name where their alignment lied.
It kinda hurts, because I used to love PCM at the start, but within months it went to “put a green hue over a meme and call it a day”, to “fash and anarchists are totally friends here” to thinly veiled white supremacy after all the decent people abandoned that shite.
I wish we could restart PCM without all the chuds.
I miss the time when PCM were of this quality instead of a bunch of cryptofash drivel.
Remember that many people they don’t consume YouTube primarily in a browser

Actually Digg wasn’t fast either. There were multiple exoduses from Digg throughout a year or more. And you also have to remember that Digg was multiple orders of magnitude smaller than Reddit is today. That gives Reddit a ton more momentum before the trust thermocline is breached.
There was never a viable alternative before now.
These kind of comments remind me of the days before the digg exodus
Funny, because statistically it seems to be doing fine.
You really believe this is is how it would play out? Astounding…
I don’t understand what you’re trying to say. Is it OK for a nation state to plant bombs in suspected opponents and then explode them at random without respect for collateral damage? If Russians did the same to Americans, you’d be all “fair play, mate”?
Well we don’t “pre-open” the communities😅 . The hope is that emulation enthusiasts would naturally realize our instance is the best fit for that sort of thing.
The peeps focusing on finding out scheming prompted an llm to generate scheming. Yawn This is the only surprising if you don’t know that llms are fancy autocompletes.
I don’t know un-installed it after 2 games. I wanted to like it, but the shooting was boring, and I can’t be bollocksed to study 3 pages of items.
This is already happening even with Aaa games. The initial purchase doesn’t seem to stop them anyway.
And no I don’t worry about it. I think if there’s motivation we’ll figure out the way. People won’t just ship making or playing good games.
That hijack is one of their worst blunders though as pirates are very romanticized in culture. They just made us look way cooler than the computer nerds we are.
I’ve been at this a long time 😅
Given that automaytic has coutersued already, I think it’ll happen
