  • TIL there is a law called Marchetti's Constant. Humans only tolerate commutes of less than ~1 hour. Housing outside that limit will fail.

  • That's because capitalists and their government buddies realized they could underpay workers and brute-force them into settling for long, unsatisfying commutes that they absolutely hate having to do.

    I'm willing to bet no one you work with looks forward to spending two hours or so traveling to work every day, either.

  • I'm assuming you weren't too happy about having to waste nearly four hours of your day in commuting though, which is the point of the article. People are satisfied with a commute of up to 30min each way, any longer and it starts to annoy them
